Hi Nasim,
I’m an early folower of you website, and this thred in particular since looong time ago.
Since AMD with its Ryzen 5000 serie (Ryzen 5 5600X an Ryzen 7 5800X) is a better offer than Intel (I’m Intel fan, but life is), it would be very nice to have an update her, is possible, to reflect the market evolution since 2020 Build (mainly 2019 components, and merely available nowadays).
Many thanks in advance

Intel is back with the new 12th gen processors. They are faster and cheaper than AMD’s excellent Ryzen 5000 models for Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, etc. But DDR5 RAM is at a premium right now, and a max of 64GB for the moment until higher capacity sticks are made (32-64GB is likely enough for most people though unless you are stitching big panoramas, etc.). You can find motherboards that can use DDR4 with 12th gen CPUs instead to keep the cost down, but you limit future upgrades too. Also, PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs are not out yet either, but PCIe 4.0 SSDs work just fine of course. So the platform is a little ahead of its time at the moment, and other components are like GPUs are costly and in short supply right now too.

Nasim, Great article!

BTW, M.2 NVMe SSD 2TB drives are almost same price as standard SSD 2TB. I am wonder why not just have 4 TB NVMe SSD drives with one hard drive volume instead of creating two volumes with two different set of drives. Any thoughts?

I would also be interested in a 2021/2022 update, mostly because of potential compatibility issues with Windows 11 for the current hardware recommendations.

A lot of the components of the 2020 Ultimate PC Build are no longer available. When are you going to update this based on 2021 equipment? Raring to go. Thanks

Happy NewYear! When will you publish your 2021 Ultimate computer system? I am interested in building a system. Thanks.

For me, page 2. Comet Lake-S Build and page 3 Coffee Lake Refresh Build are the same – they both are for the Coffee Lake Refresh Build; can’t seem to be able to access the page on the Comet Lake-S Build.

I have the same problem. I would really like to see the most recent recommended system.
