That’s a tough question – APS-C vs Micro Four Thirds. Large lenses vs small. So on and so forth. I would personally go for the larger sensor (NEX-7), but GX7 has a lot to offer as well with its fast autofocus and a wide selection of lenses. I don’t think either way would be wrong.

Thank You for that review Nassim. I was thinking of popping off my NEX-7 of late after the latest Fuji launches and already went and got the X100S. If you remember I had popped a question to you earlier on your X-E1 review if I should go for the X-E1 or XPro1 and you advised the X-E1 or if could wait for the upgrades of XE2 or XPro2. Now I think with this review you have boosted my confidence further and I will just hang on for a bit more time with the NEX-7 and wait for the Fuji upgrades. Which lens did you use on your sample shots if I may ask? Looks so much like Zeiss to my unprofessional eyes :) For me the 18-55 kit gave better pictures than the 18-200 SEL OSS but I prefer to keep the 18-200 mounted eact time I go out. I don’t want to go anywhere near the Zeiss Lenses which could have made me much happier but then there is too much buck involved there LOL … and I am just a hobbyist with a crazy passion for photography. In the meanwhile I will keep waiting for new posts from you and your team. This is become a mentoring website for a self thought hobbyist with a big passion. Thank YOU.
Peter, yes, of course I remember. As for lenses, I used a variety of different Sony lenses and some of the images were taken with Zeiss glass as well as you have noticed. I like the 18-55mm over the 18-200mm as well, not just optically, but also size-wise.

I still don’t get the NEX system. The cameras are great but there aren’t many lenses, they’re kinda expensive, slow and big. The camera is so slim that the lenses don’t balance well.
What would you choose between NEX 7 and Panny GX7 ?

Eric, that’s definitely the biggest weakness of the NEX system. Sony / Zeiss need to develop more good lenses for the mount and make them smaller.
