An excellent and quality review we all come to expect !
It convinced me to get a used one as a backup for my Fujifilm XE2 when I travel for photography. I prefer back button focusing which was set up on my XE2 but for the Nex-6 it looks like there is no option to do the same.
Would you or any readers be able to help out with a work around solution ?
Many thanks.

Hi Nasim,
as always…being a great review, thanks for that, i’ve enjoyed reading it. Just used my NEX-6 yesterday for some architecture photography, and would process the pictures when i do have spare time for this.
The much being “bashed” Kitlens isn’t that bad, it uses only 9 Lens Elements, which is a plus, because it does deliver for sure some kind of “3D Pop”, but slightly less than other Zooms, or especially prime lenses. But it is being noticeable. I usually lock the ISO to 100/200 in good light, and 400, into more worse. The Auto ISO goes sometimes up a bit fast. DR is really fine, very good at low ISO from this 16 MP sensor, afaik it’s the same 16 MP APS-C, like into my Nikon D7000 DSLR.
And 16 MP is plenty of Mega Pixels, way much enough for my needs & taste. The NEX-6 is the better A6000 for myself, DxOMark rated the sensor the same, i don’t need 24 MP. The 2.359k EVF is better than the 1.44 MP low-res A6000 EVF, and the A6000 also does have a “plasticky” build quality, not with alu-magnesium like the NEX-6. Only the A6300/A6500 do have this decent build quality, not the A6000.
Sir, thank you for the very informative review. I own the NEX 6. I bought it on impulse. I guess I got lucky. I agree, a “serious” camera should have a pasm dial. I have been dissapointed with my 1:1 images. I want to see the molecules but agree, this isn’t the camera for that. Although, I recall I used to see them with my little fuji finepix. I get great blue skies with this camera. Now, if the sky is overcast, no, just grey.

Hi Nasim,
I’ve had my Sony Nex 6 for a little over a year now and I am starting to have focusing issues. I wonder if you’ve experienced the same, or maybe I bought a dud? Occasionally, I get a “camera does not recognize lens” message when autofocusing with the kit lens. Occasionally, the camera freezes and I have to take the battery out to reset it. I checked firmware updates and I have the most recent version for my model. Unfortunately, I’m past the warranty so I’d have to pay to get it fixed at Sony.

Hi!
What do you think about Samsung NX2000 with kit lens and a pankake 30mm f2? ($285+$200) Compared to Sony NEX-6? ($500)
I’ve compared all tech information, but I don’t know the real difference, at image quality. Maybe it would be better getting the Samsung because of the prime lens?
Between viewfinder, ergonomic, etc vs conectivity, screen, etc, I don’t have preferences, but i’m worried about image quality at all conditions.
Thank you very much

Hi Nasim, My wife is going to give birth within the next two weeks and I am considering the NEX-6, but just heard that an A5 is going to replace the NEX-6 by the end of February. I also am considering the Sony A65 SLT. I read both of your reviews for the NEX-6 and A65. My question for you is: should I go ahead and get the NEX-6, A65, or wait for the Alpha A5? I am an amateur that will be taking mostly pictures of people and close up situations.
thanks,

Hi Nasim! I have a Nion D5200, but i want a small camera to carry with me. I´m looking for the Sony Nex 6, The Canon SL1/100D or the Sony Nex 5T. Can you help me to choose? I´m searching for a camera with good image quality and goos features of software and hardware. Thanks!

HI Nasim, Thanks for this in-depth review! I have had my eye on the Nex6 for awhile now. I currently own a point-and-shoot and was going to upgrade to a DSLR as I am having a baby soon and am looking for a camera that will do well in low light and for babies (quick movements!), which my P&S just isn’t good at. However, the DSLRs just seem too bulky to fit in my purse / pocket, so I know I’ll end up carrying my P&S most of the time “around town” and then will most likely miss out on getting good shots of my little one. The Nex6 seemed to solve that issue by being small enough (with the pancake lens) to take with me everywhere, and has the larger sensor size than the other mirrorless cameras. You mentioned you wouldn’t recommend the Nex6 for sports photography, I’m wondering if you think I’ll have an issue with using it for babies, or if you have a less-expensive alternative you would recommend for what I’m looking for? Thanks in advance!!
