For me this test reinforces how incredible the Nikkor 14-24 S lens is. It destroys the RF Canon version and at 24 mm from 2.8 looks more or less as good as the 24 GM prime.
Yeah, there’s a reason why the Z 14-24mm S is one of only two lenses that I’ve given a 5.0/5 star score. Although the Sony 20mm f/1.8 G got extremely close with a 4.9/5.
Spencer – sorry for hijacking this thread, but I was wondering if you were planning to do a review of the Tamron 35-150/2-2.8 in Z-mount (or Sony, does not really matter). It looks like a somewhat unique lens and the available MTF tests seem rather unreliable (e.g. ePhotoZine where they cannot even detect diffraction softening at small apertures).
Hi Eskil, no, I didn’t mean the 14-30mm f/4. Josiah is right – I included both the Tamron 17-28mm and the Nikon 17-28mm in that list. Although they share the same optical design, the two lenses have different weights, and only the Tamron lens is compatible with Sony cameras.

Yes, that one is pretty high on my list to review! (Edit: Here it is – photographylife.com/revie…mm-f-2-2-8)
Excellent, looking forward to it!
Not a Sony shooter, but this seems to be a great lens at a great price (relatively speaking).
That’s how I would sum it up, too!
Hi. I am sorry, but I don’t think there is two Nikon Z 17-28mm lenses. There is only the Tamron-designed lens. Maybe you meant the Nikon Z 14-30mm F4?
One is Tamron’s original lens with the e mount for Sony and the other one is the Tamron designed Nikon z lens
