Our Recommendation
Let’s wrap things up. Nikon currently offers three prime lenses with a 35mm focal length. All of them are impressively fast, so if maximum aperture were the only difference between them, it wouldn’t make much sense to produce all three. But as we’ve seen, each of these thirty-fives brings its own distinct personality to the table.

The Nikon Z 35mm f/1.2 S is, simply put, flawless. It delivers exceptional sharpness and contrast wide open, renders beautifully soft bokeh, and handles direct sunlight with confidence.
If “flawless” sounds boring to you, meet the Nikon Z 35mm f/1.4. It’s very sharp, but not perfect at anything, and that’s exactly what gives it so much character (and I don’t mean that in a bad way). And then there’s the Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S – a lens that performs similarly to the f/1.2 version, nearly as sharp, but one stop slower. On the other hand, it’s significantly smaller, lighter, and less expensive.
Variety is the spice of life. Just pick the flavor that suits your taste.
