Our family visited Walt Disney World a month ago, and I noticed the Disney photographers all shoot the D7500, usually with a 18-140 lens and SB5000 flash. This is the same setup they used when we were there 3 years ago. The photographers I talked to said they shoot thousands of photos a day and this camera and flash is a workhorse. They go way over 150,000 shutter actuations on them. So that is a pretty good testimonial.

I am considering upgrading from a D5300 to a D7500 is it a good upgrade for a dx sensor or is there any other options I was looking at the D850 earlier but it was too pricey and i did not have the lenses for it
I also want the camera to have a flash as i do not have an external flash yet also it is mainly for wildlife or scenery.

I purchased a D7500 recently. I love that the mode dial has a lock. The mode dial on my D5100 almost ALWAYS rotated to a different position when I put it in my bag. Very annoying. Love the lock!

Full year since the last comment, so I felt compelled to drop a big thank you to the work you all do here. I just ordered a used D7500 after joining my fiancee in her birding hobby and getting pushed down the photography rabbit hole I knew I’d end up going down since I was in my teens.
I started by borrowing her dad’s used D60 (!) with an AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens. This site was what I relied on to learn everything about metering, iso, aperture, etc etc to the point where I wanted an upgrade.
So yeah. Just thanks overall, and know that these reviews are still helping people get into the joy of photography!

Hi, I own the d7500 camera which I bought 2 years ago. I do photography as a hobby and do take pictures for some people. I like mostly landscape, cityscape, macro and some portrait. Would I be better off with a full frame camera for landscape and cityscape. I hear comments from others, that fullframe is the way to go. Right now I don’t have a budget for mirrorless. I do have a few lenses for fulframe cameras. I’m curious as to what anyone thinks. Thanks for your input!

No mention of the image stabilization. Is it for video only? I see it has three angle body image stabilization, but again, no details I’ve found on it anywhere. I do not have really steady hands and lose many shots to hand motion. This would be a very important feature for me. However, I’m not interested in video, so if it only works with video, useless to me.
Where do you see that? The D7500 doesn’t have in-body image stabilization. However, a lot of Nikon lenses for the camera do (those marked VR) which works just as well.
By comparison, electronic stabilization for video works completely different and is a digital, not physical process, which isn’t very useful and doesn’t work at all for still images.

Hello, I’m thinking of buying a D7500 package. Are these Nikkor lenses good? AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR. Thank you for your time.
Sorry I missed your earlier comment! Yes, definitely – those are the two classic lenses to use with the D7500 for starters. They cover everything except for the ultra-wide focal lengths (Nikon has a 10-20mm AF-P lens if you need that) and a wide aperture for portraiture (there are inexpensive 35mm and 50mm f/1.8 options that fit the bill).
The 18-55 and 70-300mm lenses are DX only, which means they will not cover the image on a larger-sensor Nikon FX camera should you choose to upgrade eventually. They have surprisingly good sharpness, too, for an inexpensive zoom.

Hi. I currently have a Nikon D7000 which I mainly use for weather (storms) and landscape photography as well as astrophotography too so. Currently looking at upgrading to either the D7200 or D7500 but not quite sure which to go with (they both look good!). Just looking for advice on whether the improvement in image quality and ISO performance in the D7500 over the D7200 is significant enough to go with the D7500 or would the D7200 be a big step up itself from the D7000? Thanks!
Sure thing, James. Image quality differences are small but not invisible. The D7200 will be a bit better at low ISOs thanks to the higher resolution sensor, while the D7500 will be a bit better at high ISOs. Neither in a huge step up in image quality; for that you’d need to jump to full frame. But both are still upgrades, and in other ways aside from just image quality (like video, frame rate, focusing system, and LCD quality).

John Robert, So I purchased my Nikon D7500, about a year ago. I am a seasoned birder, and have gotten into bird photography more and more, since I have my d7500. Previously I shot birds thru my Kowa TSN-1 scope with a cell. I was pretty good at it, but the D7500 blows that away now. I purchased a Tamron 18-400 zoom, but I’m kind of mixed with its performance and quality. I broke it once, and fortuantely I had a 1 year warranty thru my BnH purchase. I take the D7500 along with me , sailing, hiking, kayaking, X/C skiing,, etc.., so i want the lens to holdup. You mentioned you are fond of the Nikon 300mm F/4 + a 1.4 TC. How is the built quality and how does that compare to a tamron 600 zoom or Nikon 500 zoom. How well does the Nikon 300mm F/4 work with a 1.7 or 2.0 TC? Thanks
I’m afraid that I’ve not used the Tamron or Nikon zooms you mentioned nor the 1.7 or 2.0 TCs. I’ve avoided the TCs because reviews aren’t very favourable. I would like to try my D7500 with those zooms and buy the one I prefer.
