Just because the Nikon is a bit older doesn’t mean it’s bad. AT Optikal Limits it is not for nothing Highly Recomanded. The values of the other two comparative optics Sigma and Tamron Mr. Nasim, on the other hand, are only cold coffee and on a Nikon D5 or Nikon D3x Nikon D3s the Nikon 14-24 2.8G is a dream

Nasim,
How do you feel about this lens at the current price point of $1,349? I have a D850, though eventually I will probably move into the Z system at some point. I expect the new 14-24 Z will be a big improvement, but I’m on the fence because I feel like the performance/value proposition is changed quite a bit by the new price on the old 14-24 F, and it’s likely to be some time before I move into mirrorless. I like the OVF on the D850 so I’m thinking of holding off on making that jump until there’s another iteration of EVFs – at least until I see if the MkII Zs utilize that second Expeed processor to improve the EVF experience.
PS – My current widest FF AF lens is the 28mm 1.4E (which is probably my favorite lens), so I don’t have anything that *quite* operates in this space. I do have a 20mm f/2.8 Ai-S, though.

Hello, i have this lens and i am going to use it on d850 for photos and static 4k video on a tripod. You mention about Focus shift at all focus lengths. I want to use it at 24 genreraly at f4-f8 for video, is there would be a problem? maybe sell it and go for a 24mm f1.8 nikon instead? Thus could you have a full review please for 8-15 to see if its better in sharpness and all MTF performance?
thank you
Andy

Since this lens was introduced in 2007, Nikon has come out with G series wide angle lenses (and Sigma and Irix and others too) that have the sharpness and less distortion of this beast at 1/5th the weight and 1/4th the price. Always use a top quality prime over a beast like this. 14-24 is not a big range.

I purchased my Nikon 14-24 mm f2.8 lens way back in 2010. Here it is, 2018, and, I still have my lens, and, will be using it on my trip . China, Thailand and Cambodia in November, 2018. I’m not in Tokyo, but, am escaping there today

Hi Nasim
Great review, as always. I am planning on buying this lens for landscape and astrophotography. But considering that this is an 11 year old lens, and that third party manufacturers have released superb alternatives with more features and arguaby equally good- if not better- image quality, should I wait until Nikon update this lens? Is an update in the pipeline?
Thanks

Hi Nasim,
With the launch on the Sigma 14mm f1.8 which you have reviewed, which of the two lenses would you choose, the Nikon 14-24mm or the Sigma?
Thanks, Nick

Are the figures on here correct?
I’m pretty sure the sharpness figures on this review are dramatically different to those given in the Tamron 15-30 review when the two lenses are compared.
This review. 18mm f5.6 – Centre 3148, Mid 2455, Edge 2539, Tamron comparison 18mm f5.6 – Centre 3045, Mid 2112, Edge 1801.
Which figures are correct?

I recently switched from DX to FX when the D850 was introduced, and therefore had to replace my lenses. I appreciate the in depth reviews here on Photography Life. They have helped immensely. I have to say I have done very well for myself buying used gear. It seems a lot of photographers are selling off their Nikon equipment and are going mirrorless. Today I purchased the 14-24mm f/2.8, nearly new condition, for $1000. The seller threw in the Lee Filter System at no charge, to sweeten the pot. An additional $100 netted two Lee rectangular ND filters. I advise others to take advantage of the excellent information available here, create your short list of gear that you desire, and then keep your eyes and ears open as great deals will present themselves . Be ready to pounce. That unattainable lens or camera body just became more attainable.
