Nikkor 30-110 , 5 лет работал нормально а сейчас темный экран и ни каких сообщений , с Nikkor 10-30 работает правильно (камера V1)
Nikkor 30-110, 5 years old was working fine, but now a dark screen and no messages, it works correctly with Nikkor 10-30 (camera V1)

Hello, I recently bought a 2nd hand Nikon 1- J1 camera with the 10-30mm lens and its great, I want the 30-110mm lens too and did buy one from ebay and it didnt work so got a refund. Do you need an adaptor or anything else to get the other 30-110mm lens to work? As I had no box or instructions with this any help useful thankyou.

I am new to photography , i dont know most of the photography techniques. When i take photos i just select different modes or set it in auto mode. Currently i have Nikon 1 J5 with 10-30mm lens. I use camera very rare (when going for some tour). But i expect some more clear photos. Buying a 30 -100 mm lens will be good option or not. Does 30-110mm lens makes 10-30mm lens redundant. Please advice.

No, those would not be redundant. The 10-30 and 30-110 serve two different functions and are used for different purposes.
To get an appreciation for what different focal lengths are used for, I recommend shooting with prime lenses.

I must have been very lucky because I have two different copies and the IQ has been nothing short of spectacular in both. Nasim’s images speak for themselve. Superb sharpness, contrast and colour. It really is optically better than my full frame nikkor 80-200 f2.8 . Of course the build is no where as good. As a telephoto travel companion there is no better. I wish the 10-30 was as equally good

I like the 30-110mm, but I’ve had the VR ‘go wild’ on several occasions. The image seems to jump a little and that makes precise composing and focussing very difficult. I turned off the VR completely now. Maybe the firmware isn’t up to date, I will check that. Sharpness is okay, not spectaculair. It is a small versatile lens though.

Strongly recommend you gently clean the contacts from time to time.

I wish Nikon would revamp the 30-110mm like they did with the 10-30mm. The 11-27.5mm indeed is sharper (and smaller of course).

Thanks for the extensive review! I wonder how the 11-27.5mm will compare to the not so great 10-30mm VR.

The Nikon 30-110mm seems to be a fine performer! The Nikon 1 system is so small, you might forget sometimes that you carry a camera and lenses with you. Put the J1/V1 body, a spare battery, the two available primes and this zoom in a small bag and you’re good to go. This will cover most situations. Your excellent sample photos show once more that it’s the photographer that makes the photo and not the camera. Laughed about by many, but in the hands of a capable photographer, the Nikon 1 system is an amazingly good quality, lightweight and compact kit.

Hello!

Is it so that the standard 1 Nikkor 10-30mm VR lens offers 3x zoom, while the 30-110mm lens offers 3.7x zoom? Is that the zoom difference? I wouold like better zoom for my new V1, but such a small zoom increase would surely not make much a difference? I am new to photography :)

Finally an unbiased and very well done professional review of the new Nikon 1 lenses. Now if you would just do a review of the J and V cameras, I would feel like the system has been justly reviewed by someone who actually knows something about lenses, cameras, sensors, and how they work together. Thanks for such a well done and informative look at the new Nikon 1 system lenses
