Hello Nasim,

the 10-30 PD VR (doesn’t feature a Filterthread, sad but true) is optically being a tad better, than your reviewed 10-30 VR Nikkor 1 Zoom. This was the Nikon V3 Kitlens, back into 2014. Thanks to its reduced size, it fits into a smaller Camerabag, onto my V1. I’ve added back into 2012 the Custom Grip from Richard Franiec, ordered onto his Website. Its excellent, best AddOn Grip ever made for the Nikon V1.
That combo is still being my grab&go gear. for having a Camera with EVF at my side.

My original 10-30 VR, this Lens here, have had Issues, and was (and still is!) being serviced by Nikon, due to a common, known Failure by Nikon for free, even nowadays.

A fine Review, as always.

Good Light.
Marc

this lens has had some problems as indicated in the following statement I copied from the Nikon Service site. May help you.
‘When the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is used for an extended period of time, or zoom operations are frequently repeated, proper communication with the camera may not occur, which may cause an error message to be displayed in the camera monitor, and the lens may not function properly.’ Have also included a link to the site www.nikonusa.com/en/se…5-5-6.html

Hi,

I recently bought an open-box Nikon V1 + 10-30mm kit.
I am having trouble in shooting at apertures greater than f5.6 at 10mm.
For example, I can’t set the lens to shoot at f3.5 at 10mm in M, A , S, even Auto settings.
But, I can shoot at f5.6 to f16.
Can anybody help me with this issue, please?
I am not sure whether am I making a mistake in setting the aperture or something wrong with the lens!

Regards,

Deniz

Hi,

Can someone let me know whether Nikon 1 J1 will be a better option than a point and shoot camera like Canon IXUS 255 hs? How is about image quality, whether it is better than point and shoot.

Nice and thorough review Nasim. Do perhaps have any plans on testing the Nikon 1 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and comparing it with the 10-30mm? Some sources on the internet say the smaller 11-27.5mm is slightly sharper, but I find that hard ti believe.

Great review…

I wonder if Nikon 1 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens can be mounted onto Nikon D 5100.

Nice review.

The bokeh is very “nervous”, I really hope Nikon will give us a fast prime like 16mm f/1.0 to get some creamy bokeh

I don’t know much about Nikon lenses, but love the V1. What DX/FX Nikon lenses do you think will work well with the upcoming FT1 Mount Adapter for the V1?

I’d prefer lenses that didn’t cost over 1K$…

Any modern AF-S lens should work great with the FT1 adapter. I would love to try the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G lens with the adapter – it should be a beautiful combination for portraits!
