Nasim, did you tested the X-T1 with it’s latest Firmware v5.51 vs the X-E2 with latest Firmware, and X-Pro1? I’d guess it’s being superior to these two.

Nasim, i am a long time reader of your Homepage, your Reviews are being the most complete Ones onto the Web, and also with very high quality Samples – not just Testcharts, or boring 08/15 Pictures, further with great Information & Tips, and additional Pictures, and even Readers Comments Page – extraordinary !

Great review as always. Recently I was on a vacation with family (wife and 1 yr son) and it was a hassle to pull my Nikon D7100 + Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 from the bag to take a picture and then put in back again and ended up using my phone (Galaxy S7 Edge) almost all the time. This and your great review made me seriously consider selling all my Nikon gear and switching to a mirrorless camera. After a lot of research, I’m now torn between the X-T1 with the 18-55 lens or the Olympus OM-D EM5 Mk II with the 12-40 f/2.8 lens.
From what I read, the X-T1 major problem seems to be continuous focus which could be an issue since my son will soon be walking / running and the camera needs to keep up. The face detection on the EM5 II is said to be superb and on by default which is nice. The IBIS on the Oly is a plus point. I also read that switching to high performance mode and upgrading the X-T1 to the latest firmware can help with the focus tracking issue (at the expense of battery life). I’m mainly taking photos of family and some macro.
I would really appreciate your / others advice in this regard.

I know I’m a little late to the game here, but is anyone having issues with the AF-L button? I press it and nothing happens… I’ve set it to press and on/off, neither does anything. Example, I have the camera set to S mode on the front. I press and hold the AF-L button but the camera still auto focuses when I half press the shutter. I upgraded to version 3.10 but still nothing. I’ve gone through all the settings but nothing seems to make a difference…

Fantastic article/review of a great camera. One of the best review ever made of this Fuji X-T1. I have read the one about the Olympus E-M1, a very powerful tool and I was considering buying one of those two, but now I know I’ll go for the Fujifilm X-T1. Of course I still think about Olympus with its fantastic hi-quality lens range, IBIS, great WS build quality and superfast AF, but I already own a Fuji X-Pro1 (for sale, now), a Fuji X100S and the second camera will be X-T1. Thank you for your fine detailed work!

Dear Nasim, Would it be unreasonable to ask if you could do a comparison test with the Fuji XT plus 56mm f1.2 lens against the Nikon D4s or Df with an 85mm f1.4 nikkor. I think the resukts would be very interesting to a lot of photographers.

Dear Nasim,
Thank you so much for your valuable review. It seems you are a really great professor in photography area. Now, I am confused about choosing X-E1, X-E2 and X-T1. Apart from budget issue, I have a feeling from your reviews of both X-E1, X-E2 and X-T1 that while X-Es are good at with color in macro mode, X-T1 is better with portrait and lanscape. Could you please help me clarify this question? Whether this issues depend on lens or body?
Best regards, Giap H. Nguyen

hi! thanks for sharing this! i would like to ask if the front and back rotary dials can be configured to change shutter and aperture, like that in dlsrs??
Lily You can set the dials via the menus to control either shutter or aperture. I prefer to set the rear for aperture as that fits my subject matter better. Wayne
