Good evening Nasim, I am eagerly awaiting your review on the Fuji XT camera, any idea how long before you get the time to produce it?

I used it very recently and faced almost no issues: Seems #Fujifilm has fixed most of the issues with the incremental updates.

nasim, i just discovered my interest in street photography, can i buy x100? i think x100s is too expensive. can you suggest a good camera for street photography?thanks in advance…more power!
I have an X100, I actually chose it over the X100s for a few reasons – the main being that the photos have a really nice film-style grain at higher ISOs. The X100 is perfect for street photography as it is small, silent and looks like an old vintage film camera and thus not as alarming as a big, chunky DSLR. With the new firmware installed it’s nearly as fast as the X100s and has also acquired the focus peaking of the newer model.
It is a camera with a steep learning curve, so expect to get disappointing results for the first couple of weeks you have one. Once you get used to it you’ll find it pretty wonderful. I’ve used it for both street and landscape photography, if you like why not take a look at my photo blog and see what you think of the image quality: petetakespictures.com/blog
Cheers!

Great review and insight.
I think more of the issues you wanted resolved with the X-Pro 1 such as more auto ISO customizing is supposed to be released with the latest firmware 3.10 update… which was suppose to have been released 12/5/2013, but has been delayed till 12/19/2013, hey! which is tomorrow!… I can hardly wait to see how this latest firmware update will improve this camera which I’ve been tempted to pick up for a long time, but have held off because it didn’t quite feel complete and lacked in a few areas.
My Olympus OM-D E-M1 fills a lot of photographic needs very well right now, a great pro-level workhorse camera, actually. But, I’d like to eventually pick up a X-Pro 1 someday just for a different type of shooting experience… I like the style and the image quality, especially at lower light and higher ISO’s are impressive alone just to have and use. It would probably be my recreational camera to keep handy and just take pics with a fixed prime lens and be happy like that.. probably the acclaimed 35mm f1.4.
I had a X100 & X10 and loved the image quality… dynamic range, detail and color renditions just looked right to me… I imagine the same with the X-Pro 1.. For me, the focusing issues made me sell my Fuji X cameras.. just wasn’t reliable and really slow.. though, the latest updates seem to make the X cameras overall perform so much better these days.. very useable, from what I’ve read so far.
I am anxious to see the latest 3.10 firmware update as it is suppose to also improve OVF frame line accuracy… I know if you want perfect frame lines and accurate composition you should just switch to the EVF, but the OVF has it’s own pleasure in usage and I am hopeful providing more accurate frame lines using the OVF with the latest firmware update will make it that much more enjoyable and reliable to use.
Wing, yup, will have to re-update the review again! The X-Pro1 just got even better and I am happy to see all those changes on my X-E1 as well. Great job Fuji, what a great way to treat customers!
I really look forward to seeing whatever updated updates you have on the new 3.1 firmware update.
Anybody else who has a X-Pro 1 and has updated with the new 3.1 firmware, please also share your experience and insights as to how much it has improved the X-Pro 1.
Again, I’m pretty damn happy with my Olympus E-M1, but I would like a 2nd camera for added fun and something different. something with a slight upgrade in overall image quality and improved low light/high iso… WITH a nice cool retro style… for me, 2 cameras fall into that category.. The X-Pro 1 and the new Nikon DF… you should get better performance out of the Df, but, it’s like 2x more expensive than a X-Pro 1 with the 35mm f1.4 lens. You get FF with the Df, but I don’t know if it’ll be that much better FOR ME, to go that route?.. I mean for at least $3k (and you know you’ll spend $2800 + $50mmf1.4or1.2 +$xtraBattery + $omeaccessories), you can get a very fully outfitted X-Pro 1 and probably have some change to enjoy a celebratory dinner on such a fine purchase.
Anyways, I really hope the latest update 3.1 will make the X-Pro 1 all that much sweeter to own and use.

Hi Nasim,
Great updated review on the X-Pro1.
Being a Nikon shooter I have set my mind on treating myself with a Fuji-X, as an extra camera (not replacement). Well, I would feel comfortable getting an X100s and be done, as I am totally ok with the 35mm fov. There is a but and a budget involved. I do have some 30+ years old OM Zuiko MF lenses, real nice ones (24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 135 2.8) that I want to use. I have held them in from of my camera and actually shot with them (no focus or infinity) but when it hit, it hit nice. Nice glass, very nice glass!!! I know there are some converters out there for these lenses, and so, it opens up an opportunity to utilize them on Fuji. I have found 2 very good deals on a used x-e1 and x-pro1, and so, and I seriously considering in getting one of the two (and perhaps an x100s later), but do not know which of the two is better fit for using with my OM Zuiko MF lenses. O, the used x-e1 is about €200 cheaper than the used x-pro1, though, money is not a reason for me to get one over the other. Keeping in mind the recent firmware updates, I would like your advise.
Nasim, meanwhile I have decided on the X100s, for now, and all I can say, I love it! For me the 23mm (35mm FOV) is great! Me sometimes also being “guilty” of pixel-peeping, I am very impressed by the quality of the grain it produces at higher ISO’s. I have not hesitated to shoot it all the way up to ISO 6400 when really needed. I already have used it commercially for interior shots, and not anyone can tell it has been shot by this little gem instead of my DSLR. I still am considering the X-e2 (now) or X-pro1 (love to have OVF – as well I am curious how the latest firmware updates hold for satisfaction by users), but there is no hurry. What I thinks is really important that there needs to be be a dedicated RAF-developer by Fuji (not Silkypix). Momentarily I use LR5 and some nice presets by Fredrik Averpil and Thomas Fitzgerald. The X100s has an in-camera converter which I really like, so why doesn’t Fuji carry this technology over to the PC platform? Maybe of interest, there is an online petition for better x-trans support for anyone interested:

Hi Nassim,
Sample shots are looking awesome. Are they processed raw files or SOOC jpgs ?
Some are SOOC JPEGs and some are RAW files. The images from the initial review are JPEG-only, since back then there was no way to process RAW.

Hello Nassim,
I am back on this review from you since my X100S purchase last month after a great difficulty of getting my hands on one. I have faced a similar problem with the X100S AF but overall since I am just a enthusiast with a zest for good fun in photography I found the X100S more comfortable than my NEX7 or the other DSLRs I seem to own as it consistently shot better pictures that made me wow. Now I am thinking of popping of my Nex7 and all the lenses that I had with it and am thinking of taking on the XPro1 for it better performance. What would you advise? I am sorry but I would not be able to say what Firware the X100S came with (I need to check on that first thing on my return back from shift duty). It’s a final word of advise – Is it the XPro1 or the X-E1. I can afford both LOL hehehe.
Peter, if I were you, I would either get the X-E1 while its price is excellent, or wait till the X-Pro2 / X-E2 come out. Personally, I favor the X-E1 over the X-Pro1, as explained in this review :)
I could wait like you said is the better option. But any feelers about the X-Pro2/X-E2 launch dates? I hope soon. BTW I am now at your site after each new post and have started with a humble monthly donation to your work in appreciation. Great stuff. Thanks.
As for the launch dates, I do not know at this point – the X-E2 should be coming out pretty soon I heard, probably with the X100s sensor.

Hi Nasim, first I thank you for your reviews, really pragmatic and “on the field”. I’m a pro working mainly on travel and documentary stories, with a bacground on the news. Older than you, unfortunately! so the weight is often a problem, the size of reflex sometimes a problem for many subjects, and for thiefts…and security in many countries! So I’m really interested ina alternative approach like Fuji, or m4/3, BUT without missing the quality for a double page of a quality magazine. The answer is, how his now the situation for x-trans raw, speaking of the foliage and smaring problems? I still don’t understand if it is a mainly pixel-peepers problem or could be a problem in some colour images, perhaps a crop. Thanks, and good work enrico
Enrico…in my experience, the infamous “foliage” and “smearing” issues are almost entirely due to Adobe raw conversion. It’s gotten a LOT better, but Adobe is still a bit behind the best options for xtrans raw conversion. The best? Iridient Developer, Capture1Pro7…then a small step down with Aperture…and than a step down with Adobe LR / ACR. The free Raw Conversion software (SilkyPix) that comes with the camera is excellent as well in terms of IQ, just not the interface.
