Hi,
Thanks so much for the review! I was wondering if Fuji made any updates to the XE-1 to give it an electronic shutter?

Thanks!

Currently, i only own the XF 18-55/2.8-4, and the XC 16-50/3.5-5.6 II Lens, but i do think both of them are really fine Zooms, compared especially to Canikon Offerings.

It’s sad that the new Fujifilm XF WR F2 23mm isn’t impressive after all. 35mm into FF-terms is my prefered focal length, 50mm not really much.

Great Review, Nasim. :-) I do like my X-E1 even into 2017 very much.

Kind regards,
Marc

Hello Nasim,

I just bought the X-E1 and i am wondering which settings did you set in the menu?
WB, noise reduction, film type etc.?

A) fujifilm XE1 or XE2+ Fujinon XF 23mm F1.4 R or xe2.
2) Nikon D3300 + Nikon 50mm f/1.8G Auto Focus-S NIKKOR FX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras – Fixed

Hi

Great in depth review and nice to read what it is like in real world use. Having spent many years being dissatisfied with all my cameras (most recently an E-M10) I thought I had found my perfect camera when I tested an X-M1 but the thought of using a zoom lens with no evf put me off. At the start of this long bank holiday weekend I happened to be on the Fuji UK site and saw the reconditioned (12 months warranty) X-E1 with 16-50 & 50-230 lenses (and a Fuji camera bag) for £380 which works out at about $565 for those over the pond, so I put in an order and hopefully will get it sometime this week. I chose the silver/black one which comes with silver lenses but I am more interested in the photo quality than how it looks, hopefully silver lenses will not look too strange when most of the camera is black. Anyway, a great, informative, and clearly written site by someone who understands ‘real world’ photographers.

Hi nasim,

I know that this review is somehow dated, but when i got my first dslr 3 years ago, i based it on you reccomendations. I had 2 bodies since and 4 lenses and now im jumping to mirrorless, 1. Because i no longer shoot weddings/events, 2. I noticed that i bring my camera out less. Im really looking into the xe1, since i like the rangefinder feel and the physical buttons. What would you recommend, an xe1 or an a6000? Ill be starting with the kits, and maybe moving to primes afterwards. Im no pro, but i like to have control on the photos im taking (which i think both cameras offer, plus both have manual focus assist so no problems with manual lenses). I really hope you could respond to this. Thanks. More power.

Logan, my personal choice would be the A6000 – it is a newer generation camera than X-E1 and it has a very high value for what it can do.

Thanks Nasim. I was already able to test the a6000 (liked it,and cheaper lenses :D) but didnt have the chance to test the xe1 yet,That is why i decided to post a question here for inputs; really appreciate the response. More power!

my opinion, x trance sensor not suit photography -too sharp. objects looks being paste to a photo . left alone under exposure that causes dark blotches which author of this article managed to evade -real master skill. but the first issue present on some photos. I really admire work of photographer to work with this sensor and produce so good result.

p.s. yes colors are good on x trance , warm

I wanted and I purchased this camera. It is beautiful. It is very well made, and the color is beyond belief. This being said, I am at the point of.. enough is enough. I think that no camera with gadgets galore can take the place of raw talent/a good eye.
I do love to see all of the new cameras/etc., but do compare you great review with the huge price reduction for this model. What gives? I traded in my Canon xti for the 70D. OK/granted/an upgrade. But you know, I miss the xti. Just my ranting about the surplus of “toys” vs talent. I am so sick of manipulation of photos that I cannot stand it.

Hi Nasim, I’m thinking about getting an X-E1 for a travel camera instead of lugging my D610 abroad and there are some great deals to be had on an X-E1 and 18-55mm lens now. Trouble is, I’m being swayed by the new Olympus EM10 which looks like a nice camera too – any thoughts?

Hi Nasim, greetings from New Zealand, and thanks for the best X-E2 review out there! My X-E2 is on the way :)

Just 2 easy Q’s about using SB700 flashes from my Nikon gear: Is it safe (i.e. the voltage warning) to use this straight on the X-E2 hotshoe – or even via a (Nikon?) Sync cord? And what’s the best X-E2 setup for remote off-camera flash that you’d recommend – Pocketwizard III & SB700?? (all non-TTL is that right?). I actually have 2 SB-700’s, so could one even be an on-camera master for a slave?

I’m a 2-camera wedding photographer and am going to keep one of my D600’s, but if it all woks well, I may just swap my remaining D600 for another X-E2 or X-Pro2 (when it comes), and go light Fuji all the way!

Thanks, Steve.
