Photography Life Forums are now Open!

For the past couple of months, we have been working hard on creating a community-based site, where our readers could share their work, engage with others and advance their photography skills. We are happy to announce our first milestone – our community forums! For now we created sections related to Nature and Wildlife, Landscape, Portrait, Wedding, Street and Architecture, Macro and Sports Photography and going forward as we grow, we will be expanding to even more sections and sub-sections, work on creating interest groups, etc. For those that want to Buy and Sell their gear, there is now a dedicated section where our readers could create “want to buy”, “for sale” and “for exchange” threads to trade photography gear.

Photography Life Forums

To join our forums, you will need to create a profile with your username, password and other contact details. The good news is, if you have been our customer and have ordered the Sensor Gel Stick in the past, you most likely already have a login and password in our system, which you can use to access the forums and post comments. And if you cannot remember your password, you can retrieve it from the Lost Password page. If you have never ordered anything and do not have an account, signing up is very easy! You can click the “Register” link in our new “Member Login” sub-section on the right side of the site, or you can simply visit the Registration Page. Once you complete the registration process and verify your email address, you can access the forums directly from this link or by visiting the Forum section on the top navigation bar of the website.

I know some people will ask, so I want to let our readers know in advance – we will NEVER EVER share your email address with anyone.

We are looking forward to seeing you in our forums and we cannot wait for our readers to engage with each other and with our friendly staff here at Photography Life.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments section below!

    I’ll be an avid user!

  • Pierre Lecerf

    An awesome addition !

  • Ravi R

I remember I stumbled here years ago to and in a short time, how everything has changed, for the better..:)

I have had this nagging feeling that inspite of the ton of information available here it is still in a blog format where I have to scroll or search to get somewhere.

Now it has been simplified a lot!

Can’t wait for some interesting topics and lessons from the Pro’s.

    • Nasim Mansurov

Ravi, thank you for your feedback and thank you for being a valuable reader for such a long time! Looking forward to chatting more with you in the forums!

  • Ankur Puri

Great. Definitely looking forward to spending some quality time here.

  • eric laquerre

That’s great Nasim!! I’ll hang around the forum for sure!!! Great news!!!

  • Michael

A very nice addition. However I had a strange experience trying to use it.

Go to Forums page. It shows 1 topic and 1 post by Fred Dakin. When click on that topic the page comes up that says:
    This forum is empty.
Oh bother! No topics were found here!
You must be logged in to create new topics.

It says I must login to create new topics. I am logged in….more than one time. And still no option to start a new topic.

If I go back to the Forums page, scroll to Macro Forum and click on Fred Dakin, I get his profile AND his post about extension tubes. But that post does not show up in the Forum.

Is this a problem on my end (browser? security settings?) or might it be a bug in the forums?

    • Nasim Mansurov

Michael, there were a couple of issues with our caching plugin that I had to take care of. Please try again and let me know if you see the same issue. Thank you so much for testing this out!

      • Michael

Smooth as silk now, Nasim. I don’t know how you keep up with all these things. That sure was a fast turnaround. :-) Thank you. I will enjoy participating in the forums.

  • William Jones

Sir, maybe it is just me, but I don’t see a “Sports” listing, though it was mentioned in the text.

    • Nasim Mansurov

William, the Sports section is there – you can access it from the main forum page, or you can also navigate to the big Forum link on the top and go to the Sports sub-section :)

  • Andrew Russell

The forums seem to be broken. I can log in, but it logs me out if I click into forums other than the Macro one.

    • Nasim Mansurov

Andrew, we had some issues with caching today. I think I fixed the problem, so please do try again and let me know if you have the same problem or not. Thank you!

  • Nick Alamanos

    Great news!

Will be sure to drop by.

  • Daniel Michael

So this is why it’s been a bit quiet here for a little while!
    Great work guys!

    • Nasim Mansurov

Yes Sir! It took me a while to set everything up and format it to my liking. There is still plenty of work to do, but hopefully we can add on to existing foundation going forward…

  • Randall

No section for gear??! Almost faints. Also can I be a moderator??? Please please please? Lol

    • Romanas Nary┼íkin

Randall, we will definitely need moderators – we want to keep the Forums as nice a place to visit as possible. Can’t promise anything yet, though :)

  • Peter Wallburg

HI – We have a portrait studio and have used Epson printers for years. Last year I downsized the printer to an R3000. In just over a year I have had to hove the printer replaced 5 times and honestly; am waiting for the one I have now to fail. I can’t believe that Epson is not aware that this printer is defective. I have seen reviews from others on Adorama and B&H saying the same thing.
As I respect Photographic Life I thoght I would put this out there for you and your readers. Keep up the great work.

  • Winston Cooper

Great work and I will be a follower. May I suggest that when you expand this forum that in the People and Portrait part you create a sub division for those of us who also shoot both studio and location art nude/glamor. Perhaps not letting any actual image posting be done due to the adult content and respect for the wide ranging sensitivities found here but letting conversation and info exchange on this subject be posted.

    Just a thought..thanks.

  • Jorge Balarin

Thank you very much Nasim. It is a wonderful idea that will give some extra joy to my live. Best wishes.

  • Donald

I think these forums will be a wonderful addition to Photography Life. Thank you for creating them.

I hope that forums users here can keep the use of acronyms to a minimum, because using them is just lazy writing style and it confuses the readers. I belong to a radio control forum, and half the time I can’t understand the postings because writers use way too many acronyms, such as tx for transmitter, rx for receiver, op for original poster, and a lot of really weird acronyms that are just about impossible to figure out. It makes reading forum posts painful. I hope we can use compete words and sentences here.

Keep up the good work. In the radio control forums, I would have just written kutgw.

Also, I hope you can include an edit feature in the future, so we can fix our posts after we have posted them.

    Thanks again !

  • Rick Keller

Wow. A very, very pleasant surprise. Nasim, Romanas, et al, congratulations on this fresh, welcome, constructive, and hopefully successful approach and addition to your website. Well done. :-)

  • Sapan Mukherji

    Hi Nasim,

I appreciate all your hard work and great achievements , We will now have lots of opportunities to share our photographic skills and art.

    Thanks for everything …

  • David

You wrote: “…And if you cannot remember your password, you can retrieve it from the Lost Password page…”

All that does is send me an email with a link back to the same page. There doesn’t seem to be any way to reset it.

    • Nasim Mansurov

David, I have just tried to reset the password by clicking “Lost password” and it worked for me. I received an email that says “Password Reset Instructions” and there was a link to the site. I then clicked on that link, which asked me to type the new password. Once I did that, my password was reset successfully.

If you cannot activate your account, please contact me via the contact us form above and I will take care of it for you.

      • David

I’ve done some additional testing on this.

Using three different browsers (Safari, Firefox, Opera) on a Mac all fail; that is, the link returns me to the “Lost Password” page with no options for a new password.

Using Firefox on Windows 7 works. I didn’t try any other browsers on Windows.

  • Monsour Reyes

Congratulations! Been a regular at your wonderful site for sometime now. This forum addition is an awesome evolution to this beautiful piece of digital real estate you have here. Best wishes on the activity in these forums and may they spur intelligent discussion without flaming among the users. Thank you for this.

By the way, the “log-out” problem still happens. Every time I open a thread, the forum logs me out.

    • Nasim Mansurov

Monsour, the issue should be fixed now, please try again :)

  • Kumar Dosi

Good stuff Nasim & PL time. I hope it flies and continues well.

I think there is a bug in the Photo Critique section. I tried to upload a picture there, but whenever I click to go on that page, it seems to log me out. Other sections seem to be working fine.

    • Nasim Mansurov

Kumar, I have just fixed the issue – please try again now :)

  • Arun

Wow.. Great work Nasim, love it :)
Already got lot of knowledge from you, hope now from forum too :)

    • Arun Devanan

Hi Nasim, think its a bug. Everytime I open a forum post, it ask me to login. Hope we can correct it.
