Tierpark Sababurg

Directions

The animal park Sababurg is located near the city of Hofgeismar, Hessen, Germany. You can reach it by car coming from Kassel, passing Hofgeismar and following the signs. Despite that, there is a good connection with the local traffic. Nearby of the animal park, you can visit the ancient castle Sababurg.

Photo Spot Details

The animal park is embedded in a gorgeous landscape, features a real impressive predator bird show, which takes place three times a day. The birds flying extreme close to the visitors (beware of your hairpiece). So photographing with a “not-so-far-reaching-lens” is easy and heavy cropping isn’t often necessary. Despite this, there is a children’s zoo, a lot of other animals as there are wolfes, (rein-)deer, penguins, goats, boars, guenons, especially european bison and other former resident animals, which are kind of rare nowadays and counting. You can go for an extend walk and/or by bus through this large property. At various times, a local photographer offers workshops (Manfred Delpho). Additionally there are a lot of events taking place all over the year.
