The main entrance of the reserve is near the city of Mahendranagar, in Far West Nepal. You can take a jeep safari on approval from the Reserve's office. Take a good tele lens with you.

The Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve is a protected area in the Terai Region of Nepal covering 305 km2(118 sq mi) of open grassland, forests, riverbeds and tropical wetlands at an altitude of 174 to 1,386 metres (571 to 4,547 ft). The congregation of swamp deer in the reserve’s grasslands is the largest in the world; the population of hispid hare may be of international significance. It is also famous for blackbucks.
