Photo Spot Details

The incredibly popular Shenandoah National Park. If you’re just driving through, Skyline Drive has many outlooks where you can pull over and marvel at the wonders of the Appalachian Mountains. If you’re hiking, there are many trails for both novices and the experienced. And of course lots of opportunity to take pictures.

Being a national park, there is no restriction on tripods or any photo equipment. But please be careful navigating the park, especially at night. Wildlife abounds so you don’t want to hit a deer. I would take some sort of safety gear as well. You never know what lurks in the great wilderness.

The Virginia vineyards are also near the Appalachian so stop by for some wine tasting. Obviously don’t drink and drive!

Nice photography. I really love the astrophotography and do need to start experimenting with my full frame camera. I have a 16-36 f/4 lens; wish I had a fixed 20 or 24. Thanks again.
