Directions
The fortified gate is located right at the d'Youville Square, a very popular place downtown that you can't miss if you travel around the city. Stairs let you climb up on the gate, and you can climb up again on the fortifications edge. There is no fence once you climb again, so watch your steps.

Quebec city is mostly surrounded by mountains and cliffs, taking a picture with a very low sunset can be challenging. Using the higher view point of the fortification is good way to go. This spot is right downtown in one if the most the visited area of the city, so almost everything that surrounds it is interesting to see.
