Directions

The Hessencourier is a historic steam locomotive, which travels along the route from the city of Kassel, station Wilhelmshöhe to the city of Naumburg. It is maintained by a friendly society, which saved this unique historic route and train. The station where it starts in Kassel is not that far away from the palace and the UNESCO world cultural heritage Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.

Photo Spot Details

The train runs from Easter to the end of the year, sometimes featuring special events. For that 33,4 km long route the train needs round about one and a half hour one direction. I suggest reserving tickets in late April, early May because the nature awakes, the flowers begin to bloom, trees becoming green and the landscape is much more beautiful than in winter. At winter time, when it snows, it’s fairytale-like, but in respect of the global warming, we notice a landscape fully covered with snow in a lesser extend.
