Photo Spot Details

I shot at sunset from around 4 AM – 6 AM with my Nikon D90 + 18-105mm lens. A fine weather with a lot of sunshine. A good day stop along Route 1A, between Huế and Da Nang/Hội An, Lang Co Beach is a sweeping expanse of sand. The beach lies at the northern end of Hai Van Pass, and the sands of Lang Co begin just where the mountain switchbacks end. Behind the long stretch of beach is a large lagoon, and the lightly populated town area is just a narrow strip.

I spent a little time near Lang Co back in November 2016. Our group drove over the Hai Van Pass from Danang to Hue and it was amazing. Unforunately, the weather was quite awful with lots of rain and clouds. By the time we got to the northern end of the pass, the weather was so bad we could barely see out into the bay and to the marvelous bridge that crosses it. It was a bitter disappointment but the experience of the Hai Van Pass was amazing nonetheless.
