August 28, 2016 By Joe Winifred No Comments

LakeLouise_2048We were there during Summer, and so the sunsets were pretty late (10:00pm). Golden hours are better to shoot and dont forget, this is one of most photographed locations in Alberta. So come in early and take the spot; This place is pretty close to the Fairmont hotel;

Gastown

December 9, 2015 By Jay Cheng No Comments

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 presetBorn in 1867, Gastown is now home to many coffee shops, souvenir stores, restaurants and nightspots. You can suddenly get a different buzz once you enter this area as the architecture here delivers a different feeling from the rest of the city. Narrowed streets and stone pavement. All the historical buildings are well-preserved. I find the night times here most attractive. When the night comes, the trees are all lit up and sometimes when it’s drizzling(which seems to happen quite…

Deception Pass

September 21, 2015 By James Hamer No Comments

Deception-Pass-TentDeception Pass is deep in Banff National Park, Alberta. Banff National Park is famous for its two popular lakes, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. However, just opposite these tourist hotspots is a vast mountain region which is fairly unknown. Deception pass is 2485m high and offers dramatic high Rocky Mountain views and views of Skoki Valley. Hiking up through autumnal forests and over into the mountain basin provided a great change of scenery. The landscape higher up is barren, with…

Floe Lake

August 9, 2015 By James Hamer No Comments

Floe-LakeIt was becoming late in the season when I reached Floe Lake, it was early October and I was lucky not to be trudging through snow due to the dry spell at the time. I arrived late in the evening and so did not get much of a chance to photograph at sunset. Although, Floe Lake is the perfect place for sunrise photography as the towering 900m tall rockwall faces almost directly East. I woke early in the morning to…

Bar U Ranch

August 8, 2015 By Ariel Rogado No Comments

Bar U Ranch #1The Blacksmith Shop is just one of the old buildings inside the Bar U Ranch, a National Historical site of Canada. It was built in 1910. Inside the shop are interesting pieces of shoeing stuff and repair equipment used in the early days. There are a number of historical buildings in the area, each has its own story to tell. A picnic area by the creek is also provided for families if you want to have an outdoor lunch or…

Bindertwine Park

August 7, 2015 By Bernie Fournier No Comments

Bindertwine Park #1Kleinberg, Ontario is home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, a showcase for works by the Group of Seven and other Canadian artists. It is also adjacent to considerable watershed land for the tributaries of the Humber River. Part of this land is formerly set aside as “Bindertwine Park”, but woods abound along all of the creeks in the area. Framing the cleared and playground areas of the park are collections of white birch, as seen in the featured image.

Moraine Lake

July 30, 2015 By Ariel Rogado 4 Comments

DSC_0977Moraine Lake is one of the most photographed lake in the world, it is surrounded by ten peaks mountains and it’s waters come from the glaciers. The best time to photograph this is during the golden hour, however, everyone can get a nice shot of the lake all season, spring, summer, fall or winter can give you a variation of scenery, from luscious greens in spring and summer to golden in fall and to white snowy background in winter.

Cape Bretton Island

July 20, 2015 By David B Cox 1 Comment

_DC39068Cape Breton Island is on the east end of Nova Scotia. McMillans Cove is a small cove off of the much larger Bras d’Or Lake, a saltwater lake. A great place for quiet family vacations with lots of vacation rentals. A long drive for groceries, though. Cape Breton has a to of interesting cultural sights as well.

Colony Farm Community Garden #1The community garden is comprised of over 500 individual plots on seven-acres within Colony Farm Regional Park in Coquitlam, BC. It is a great location to see organic farming techniques, and to relax and enjoy nature. And, it is a wonderful spot to take photographs!

Lafarge Lake, Town Centre Park

July 20, 2015 By Elizabeth 2 Comments

Lafarge Lake, Town Centre Park #1I love the park in both the fall and spring, especially the area surrounding the lake. You can shoot fantastic fall foliage shots in the autumn, often softened with fog or mist. In the spring, hundreds of cherry blossom trees will be in full bloom, and provide a spectacular show.

Cypress Mountain Viewpoint

July 20, 2015 By Elizabeth No Comments

Cypress Mtn Viewpoint #1This is one of the best locations to get beautiful panoramic views of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. On a clear day, you can see across Georgia Straight to Vancouver Island and southeast to Mount Baker in Washington State. The best time for photography here is at sunrise and sunset. However, you will need to get there early in order to find a place to set up your tripod. This spot is a favorite of photographers, and the best vantage…

Toogood Pond Park

June 25, 2015 By Bernie Fournier No Comments

Toogood Pond Park #2An urban park that has a great variety of photographic opportunities. Wet-lands, marsh areas, a lake, a dam, wooden boardwalks and bridges providing access throughout. Late afternoon sun provides drama and shadows as seen in the featured image. Tripods are no problem, but the mobility and flexibility of hand-held will likely get you the shot you are after.

Lake Ontario Waterfront Parks

June 25, 2015 By Bernie Fournier No Comments

Lake Ontario Waterfront Parks #1Waterfront parks provide access to Lake Ontario in this primarily urban area. Not a dramatic sweeping landscape, but an easily accessible site with pleasant views and interesting features. Redeveloped from a long-time industrial lakeside processing plant, the area now has walking and riding paths along the shoreline, which includes stretches of recovering beach.

Montreal Waterfront

June 16, 2015 By Roger Batchelor Jr. 2 Comments

Waterfront of Montreal #1Shooting at night is ideal to capture this area. I took the images at about 10:30 PM. There were people about but not so many to interfere with shooting. The area is quiet, but safe and tripod shooting is not an issue. I set up a tripod, lowered my ISO to 100 on the Nikon D800E…used a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens since it was the sharpest I had with me and the field of view was about what I wanted.…

Erie Lake, British Columbia

June 14, 2015 By MC 1 Comment

Erie Lake #5This small lake is abundant with birdlife and other critters including the Western Painted Turtle, many Beaver, Otter and Muskrat. I have personally photographed over 80 bird species on this lake from my kayak. The lake is only 1 km in length and 400 m wide and usually very calm. It is a great place for family kayaking and canoeing. It is not suitable for swimming due to the muddy bottom and marshy conditions.

Notre-Dame Basilica

June 14, 2015 By Roger Batchelor Jr. No Comments

Notre Dame Basilica of Montreal #4This is one of the most beautiful churches you will ever see. It is located in Montreal near multiple Metro and bus stops. The church charges a small fee and is open business hours most days of the week. You can check ahead to see if there is a service or some special event, but otherwise it is a great place to shoot. Many people take the guided tour and that will allow you to shoot where they are NOT…
