The “shills” that call for this crap…
So, like on FB, become a fan. Can we do any more marketing and publicity for you? All for the off- chance of winning a crappy camera. And fools sign up in droves. Everyone wanting something for fee.
    Oh well.

Who would have thought a contest would be about publicity and getting something for free? But feel free to whine about something you are in no way compelled to participate in.

obviously a Canon fan… lol. Come on dude. here’s not the place for those kind of comments. we learn to much from this site. and I don’t think 2 clicks and a comment to win a great camera is asking that much of anybody :)

    • 1.4) Leo Williams
      April 5, 2013 at 2:30 pm

      I second Anselm.

We pay at least 50% more for most of the product we use in our day today life. The remaining 50% of the money we are paying is for covering the advertisement and agency charges.

      For example:

Production cost of a 500 ML Coke is just INR. 10.00 in India, but we pay INR. 30.00. The remaining money is for the advertisements and the agency charges. Its not only in India its like that everywhere.
So people who participate in this blog are not fools. We all come to this web site to learn lot of things about photography. And Giveaway or no giveaway we would still like and promote this website. When we can pay and promote crapy products by paying money from our pocket. This is far better.

You don’t like it don’t participate. Calling people fools is not a good attitude.

What a douche, that’s all that comes to mind after reading your short time wasting post. Sorry if this offends anyone unless the person offended is JM.

As for Photography Life, thanks for doing something that you didn’t have to do.

I actually know what you mean, Kathleen, I don’t have an account myself, but facebook’s a big part of our contact with our readers and is important.

I agree too. I don’t want Facebook in my life either but too many sites make people use it to enter contests. If you don’t become a member you are excluded.
      Oh well.

I felt like responding to the tool’s comment above as well but thought better of it.

I had a quick look through the comments of the entrants and noticed there were a lot of multiple entries. Obviously in their excitement to win such a great prize/camera they overlooked the condition of no multiple entries.

At least it will make you job judging a little bit easier.

      David, thank you. :)

As for the judging, it’s an automated process, would be rather unfair if we actually chose some person for ourselves. There are people unhappy about a giveaway, as you can see for yourself. Imagine the response if we were to make the call who gets it – plenty of people would think we’re subjective and all that.

        April 5, 2013 at 2:37 pm

I knew the winner was drawn but for some reason I thought you had to sort out your entries manually. I didn’t even think of doing it automatically.

        April 6, 2013 at 9:27 am

Does that mean that I can put in 100s of duplicate entries and increase my chances of getting picked up randomly? Thats completely unfair and demolishes the very basic concept of the giveaway.. I’m loosing trust in you guys..

I’m sorry to hear that you’re losing trust, but I have to say there’s no reason to. As we’ve pointed out at least twice now, anyone who’s made more than one comment is disqualified.

Thank you Roman, I love this site since the time I came to know about it 2 years back.. And thanks for the re-assurance.. I’m not that keen on winning the camera, its all about the trust that I had with this site since the beginning.. Anyway, I have placed my D7100 order last week(I’m from India) and it will get delivered sometime this week..

Is there anyway to get comments deleted? Because I accidentally left 2 comments on the Giveaway page because I thought my first comment didn’t get submitted because the page was just stuck as ‘loading’ for 5 mins.

    Does this mean I’m disqualified?

    Hi Roman,

If you remember I sent you a few shots of mine a little while ago, can you email me on the address that I have put in the email address field of this comment please. I would like to send you a picture I took recently but I have lost your email address.

If you can’t see my email address let me know and I will post it on here as a comment reply.

Many thanks and I hope you are well.

I forgot to mention, the picture was taken with my Nikon D3200 with a nikkor 50mm f/1.8. If I won the D7100 I would be very happy because I would have access to more delicate settings.

      Thanks again,

I never had the money to own a dslr, so i guess i will take some epic bookeh shots with it… make some good hd videos with it( and if it has a slow mo option , i will givee it a try as well) .
and learn to use it gradually.

All these giveaways and short comparisons are spaming your website and making the list of article unnecessarily long and confusing.

I personally find it much better, if you post only real reviews and articles, so its easier to find them without all these spam.

    • 16.1) Martin
      April 6, 2013 at 4:52 pm

Wholeheartedly agree, Mark. As I feared from the outset, Mansurovs has become diluted in quality, alongside its new “Photography Life” tag. Most of the output over the past few months has been not worth reading, and the promotional garbage is embarrassing. What a pity. It used to be a great site. I still visit, but usually leave without reading beyond the headline.

        April 6, 2013 at 8:42 pm

now they even introduced “giveaways reminder” and “rebates reminder” … they are spaming the site with consequences:

It takes longer to find the wanted article when scrolling trough the history, and when using the search function so much useless junk appears.

        sometimes less is more

        • mark
          April 6, 2013 at 8:57 pm

I think they do this things for commercial reasons. the more facebook fans they have, the more interesting they are for B&H and the better conditions they can negotiate. As a consequence the website gets plastered with usless news and junk.

      April 6, 2013 at 10:15 pm

Wow, you guys act as if you have a monthy subscription you have to pay to view this site. This still a great site, I’m really confused about what all the bi—— and complaining some of you people are doing. One of the things that has always turns me off about other photographers is the amount of complaining they do with regard to just about everything, you just can make them happy.

Look running a popular website cost money to do, it doesn’t come free. Unless you are paying out of pocket to assist with that cost than stop your complaining, please! If PhotographyLife, FStoppers, Petapixel or any other site has corporate sponsors to assist with the cost of maintains things so the information continues to remain free who cares, I prefer it that way.

As for a matter of convience, is it really that much harder or inconvenient to click your mouse or the screen of your smart phone an additional few times to find what you are looking for? I think not.

It’s just obscurd how people are complaining about something they haven’t put any of their own time or money into.

Completely agree, JR. I am so grateful for this site.

    • 16.3) Mark
      April 7, 2013 at 1:32 pm

It’s a VERY good site without any questions.

I understand that money must come in. So the point is that later after a rebate or giveaway on these money-related-posts should disappear in order to keep the archive/history slim and slender. Or, would be also a solution, that these money-related articles do not appear as search results.

As for you, JR, you seem to be a person which does not tolerate critique and with an understanding that a critique must be destructive.

I’ve fallen in love with photography and since I was just laid off, I figure this is a very good time to see if I can earn some sort of living by doing something about which I have passion. Wouldn’t that be great?
