It’s been more than a year since Nikon pre-announced the 58mm f/0.95 Noct lens and mirrorless battery pack, but the company just “officially” announced them today. If you’ve followed the rumors of the 58mm Noct, the whopping $8000 release price may not surprise you – but it’s still extremely high.
Nikon Z 24mm F1.8 S Announcement: 4 Aspherical Elements, $1000
Nikon just announced its seventh lens for the Nikon Z mirrorless cameras, the Z 24mm f/1.8 S. Although we already knew this lens would arrive in 2019 thanks to Nikon’s roadmap, today’s announcement sheds much more light on its features. The 24mm f/1.8 ships in October for an MSRP of $1000.
Nikon D6 and 120-300mm f/2.8E VR Announcements
Nikon has just announced that it is “developing” the next generation top-of-the-line “flagship” camera for sports and wildlife photographers, the Nikon D6. The launch is intended for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan next summer, which is going to be an important event for all major camera manufacturers, including Nikon.
Sony A6100 and A6600 Announcements
Today Sony announced two APS-C cameras – the high-end A6600 and the stripped down version of the A6400 in the form of the A6100. Both cameras will be available later this year at price points of $1400 and $750 for body-only versions.
Canon Announces Two Mirrorless f/2.8 Zooms
Rounding out the list of Canon announcements today are two pro-level zooms for the company’s full-frame mirrorless cameras: a 24-70mm f/2.8 and the world’s first 15-35mm f/2.8 zoom. Both will be available in late September, each selling for $2300.

Nikon Z RAW Video Will Require a Paid Hardware Upgrade
In a press release today, Nikon announced that the upcoming RAW video feature on the Z6 and Z7 will require a hardware update to function, including a service fee. The company also released dedicated lookup tables (LUTs) for the Z6 and Z7 when shooting N-log video over HDMI.
