Personally I like the 24mm 1.8G very much; but the S-line lens is somewhat better, and more expensive.
I am a 24mm man – 28 is just not it and 20mm just too wide for most uses.

Which one of these lenses will resolve more then 46mp? I have a d7500. Its 20megapixels. The pixel desity is equivalent to 46mp on full frame right? Since your last piece on nikom lens resolutions. I have been thinking that dx pixel density way too high for most nikon lenses. Do u think 70-300 DX VR AFP and 18-55 AFP cab resolve this much? I want a lens that can max out my camera’s sensor resolution. I own a tamron 150-600mm, nikon 35mm f1.8g dx, 85mm f1.8 D, an old 135 mm f2.8 AIS, a nikkor S auto 50mm f1.4. I dont think any of these can resolve 20mp on dx

Muhammad, please keep in mind that while lens resolving power is important, it is not the only reason why we buy a particular lens. Many DX lenses are optimized for center sharpness, and most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a superb and a good lens. If you want the best image quality and sharpness, get primes. For everyday needs, a DX zoom will do just fine, including the new AF-P choices.

Danny, yes, absolutely! The 20mm f/1.8G is a phenomenal lens for the price.

Nasims, thanks for letting us know. I have a few prime Ienses I want to pick up. I know the 28mm f1.8g has some focus shift issues but if I have a D750 would it really be worth getting the 28mm f1.4e if I’m only making the call on lens sharpness? The price between the two is substantial and not sure it’d be worth it, especially for 24 megapixel camera that’s primarily used for landscape/ documentary type work.

Abomb, the Nikkor 28mm f/1.4E is worth every penny. It is the sharpest lens I have ever tested! But it is not just the sharpness that makes this lens shine – its colors, contrast and other optical properties are equally impressive.

Thanks. If it had better control of coma wide open it’d be easier to justify for me, but I’ll have to consider it.

Abomb, you want the whole cake and some icing on top of it :)

It would be nice if coma was not an issue on this lens for sure… it would be a superb Milky Way lens!

Yes! I want it all! Haha, if coma wasn’t an issue the 28mm could be my do everything lens…well I might need a telephoto prime too in special cases.
