New ONA Bags for the Summer Announced

Have you heard of ONA DSLR bags? ONA means “to feel” or “to believe” in Swahili and it sure made a believer out of me. As I am walking around with their Chesnut Brooklyn bag around, I constantly get compliments how chic it looks. Their products are handcrafted and produced with superior materials like full-grain cowhide leather, waxed cotton canvas, solid brass and closed cell foam. Does that mean I love it? Tune in next week to find out what I think about their Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, let’s see what’s up with ONA these days. From ONAs blog, it is evident that they have added quite a sophisticated and good looking line of camera bags to their collection. I haven’t had a chance to hold one of their new ones yet, but from the initial photos they look very stylish and versatile. Their bigger bags are designed to carry more than the camera and couple of lenses, but smaller bags are very good for small shootouts and portrait sessions, where you do not need to carry around whole a lot of gear.

While you can carry your gear in any thing that makes your life easier, ONA for sure caters for those of us who want to embrace the vibe of the vintage and shabby chic look.

Here are their new products:

The Bolton Street Backpack

Bolton looks very sleek and user friendly. It can fit a DSLR body and up to 5 lenses. It promises a very easy access to your gear from two pockets on each side.

The Leather Bowery

As for me, this is by far one of the good looking bags they have. Although not as roomy as Bolton, The Leather Bowery can carry one DSLR body and one lens. It also has plenty of compartments for your personal items.

The Smoke Bowery

The Smoke pretty much has the same functionality as its leather counterpart.

The Dark Truffle Leather Brixton

This bag is featuring Italian-tanned leather and is a dark truffle version of Brixton. It conveniently holds one DSLR body and 2-3 small lenses. Can fit in a 13″ laptop and a rear magazine pocket can conveniently hold an iPad.

As we get more ONA products, I will be able to give you hands on reviews of their products. Stay tuned!

    Hi Lola,
The bags look very chic, but I wouldn’t call them chick (typo in sentence 2). ;-) Sorry for being picky. I agree, the bags look great.

      Oops :) Thank you, Bob!

These are fantastic looking bags. My camera bags are functional, but not particularly nice looking. These are great and they do not even look like camera bags. Better yet, the small ones come with a Leica M9…wow, what a deal.

Does Ona make camera bags for men, too?

    • June 5, 2013 at 11:55 am

Yes, they do – both Union Street and Brixton are male/unisex designs, I believe. ONA bags are absolutely beautiful and I was considering getting one, but ended up with Billingham Hadley Pro instead. Billys are cheaper in here (I live in Europe) and I read some reviews saying that there are some issues with the usability of ONA Union Street (the bag I was considering). Some users were saying shoulder pad isn’t the greatest one and that the handle’s placement makes the bag hard to carry. Nonetheless, their design is really amazing and if I were living in USA, I’d give them a try in a heartbeat.

        Ooops, “if I was”. Sorry!

If I lived in Europe I would buy one.

In the United States, if I bought one, I’d have guys coming up to me on the street and saying: “Hi! Having a nice day? Gee, your selection of camera bags makes me think you are a very sensitive person.”

I’ll stick with my obvious camera bag.

Peter, ONA makes bags for men, too :) I do not think you will look like a person who is very sensitive. I think you will look just right!
