I got this lens from B&H Photo for $70. I love it. My only complaint was the stiff manual focus ring, though I rarely use manual focus. I dropped the lens about 2.5 feet onto a concrete floor. I picked it up, put it on the camera, and it worked fine. In fact it worked better. The manual focus ring operates smoothly. The image quality is very good. Razor sharp at f/5.6-f/8.
The EF 28-70 has become my walk-around lens on my EOS 40D. I carry my EF28 f/1.8 and my EF85 f/1.8in the bag when I’m on serious photo outings.
If you come across one of these gems, grab it.
