Hey, just wondering if anyone here is into surf photography and shoots photos (not video) with an action cam? Curious about the latest generation GoPro's, Instas360's etc and what results you get?

I think the thing that would steer this conversation in one of two ways is this: are you talking about shooting from the shore, or from the water/on a boat/on a board, etc? If shooting from the shore, the GoPro's and similar will be much too wide of cameras and the people would be too small. If you are talking about being in the water/boat/board, then you can get some really awesome shots with a GoPro or similar. It's especially nice not to have to worry about if they get splashed, and you can do some fun partial in/out of the water shots as well. It won't compare in pure image quality to a full underwater rig, but is both significantly cheaper and easier to use.
