There's a cut-off utility pole with a really neat moss colony on top. I've been playing with it, but not really sure what to do with it. On the one hand, I like the weathered wood, on the other, if I cropped in and removed the context, it would look like a forest on Venus or somehing... Different framing? Different perspective? Different light? Cheat and add some water from a spray bottle?
(The image resizer I used to get this to fit on here made it really flat and lifeless)
I would use flahes on both sides (with color gels or not) and shoot a straight proxy scene from the bottom line, as if it was shot in a jungle.
Try something ecological. This '' THE VICTIMS'' is only a small exemple and please do not be upset.
I cropped and green coloured to go toward ''New Life''
If nothing else, I'm going to play with the pixel shift (whatever Canon calls it) feature on the camera and go for a mega-resolution image I can drill into.
Should be a decent subject for that, since it's not going to move or be affected by wind...😝
👌
This is my version of this Photo. Looks like an alien world.
As others had already said you should take this picture straight in front of the log.

I tried that. The problem is, the utility pole that they replaced this one with, is right behind it - nice, new, light colored wood. Very distracting. 🤬This was about the only angle where I could get it out of frame, and I think the power company would frown on it if I got the chainsaw out....
Of course if I focus in more tightly on the moss, I have much more latitude.
This was a half-assed attempt at a focus stack - I manually changed focus points and then took four shots.
Maybe I'll try a whole bunch of different stuff - the moss seems to be a fairly cooperative subject - and post 'em and let you guys decide !
@Bo Gussname If you take the picture concentrate on the alian world. Ignore the utility pole (if this is possible).
