Let's add some content to this forum ;-) After all, it's up to us users to make this a nice place to visit right?
One of my ongoing photo projects (that started even way before covid came around) was to photograph the region (province) where I live - which is Limburg in the south of the Netherlands. I even created a dedicated website for it ( https://limburg.photo ), to make sure I actually DO something with the photos I make :) This is the most recent photo I uploaded to this website:
Title: Chaos II. Description: Woodland photography is often a challenge. Trees, branches and leaves crisscrossing each other make it difficult to find a composition that doesn't look utterly chaotic. But sometimes even just a little bit of morning mist can help you out! I spotted this scene on a quick scout on my way to work at the upper part of the Stammenderbos, near the small village of Sweikhuizen (Beekdaelen, Limburg, The Netherlands).
Wow, that’s beautiful, @ronaldsmeets! Well done to go there on a day that was misty, and also sunny. Forest photography in direct sunlight is a real challenge, and I can tell that you worked with the light to avoid the usual harsh look.
Great shot and a very interesting project @ronaldsmeets. I like the website you have created. How long have you been at this project?
@spencer thanks for your kind words, really appreciate it coming from you! I find woodland/forest photography really challenging and my pick-reject-rate is not great :-) But the fun part is, I took this image on my bike ride to work one morning when I thought 'why not take my camera along for once?'. Saw to trees, morning sunlight and just a bit of mist/fog and kinda new right away it would make a nice picture - took me no more than five minutes 🤫 (and half an hour in capture one to be completely honest)
@dnazarenko thanks and thanks! The idea for "Imagine Limburg" project started in 2014. To be honest I'm terrible at making the decision when enough is enough in editing the raw files, so I don't upload many photographs to this project. 9 years in and I think there are about 90 photo on Imagine Limburg :-)
@ronaldsmeets Well, good for you for sticking with the project
@ronaldsmeets - thanks for sharing the photo and your project URL. The photo does create art from woodland chaos, as you said.
@suzatlarge you're welcome! I'll probably share more images here in the future ;-)
Hey that’s a familiar place! Just a couple of km from my home. One of my favourite spring /autumn places for woodscapes and mushrooms. Amazing to see it on this forum. Like you I find forestscapes challenging. This one works quite well I think. The group of three trees are interesting and the left side of the image adds depth.
@elbert dankjewel, leuk om te zien dat er ook 'buurtgenoten' hier zijn. I'll continue in English now so everyone else can understand ;-) Thank you for your kind words, nice to see you like the photo. Yes, woodlands are not the easiest subject.
