I live in an area close to many sites of historic relevance to the US. One of them is Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington. While it can be visited throughout the year, several special annual events will make the visit more worthwhile. I have attended two such events a number of times - the 'Revolutionary War Weekend' in May, and the 'Fall Harvest Festival' in October. Unfortunately, the weather prevented me from attending the May event this year.

Another two interesting things to visit at Mount Vernon (although not at the main site but not far from it) are the reconstructed distillery and gristmill, both using recipes and processes from Washington's time. The produced whiskey and flour can be purchased from the museum's shop :-)

Thank you, Radu!
I got it at the end of June - it replaced my original Z6.
Shot this during the last Fleet Week. Blue Angels in formation directly over my place! Shot with Canon R7/RF 100-400F8 (I have since traded the R7 in for an R10 due to weight issues but loved it when i had it).
The Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Virginia, is an open-air history museum that shows the life and customs of migrants to the first permanent British colony in North America. The photo below was taken at the German Farm (1750s), which was originally located in the Rhineland Palatinate.
