Today my printer took a dump on me, so I'll soon be in the market for a new one. I've always liked and used Epson inkjet printers. I'm not a professional photographer but would like to print some pictures out for framing and display in my home. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sorry this is so late, just noticed. I don't know if this is any help, but a year or so ago I got an Epson 4750 all in one printer. This is one that uses bulk ink instead of cartridges, and came with enough to fill the tanks twice. Not a bad price, and it's good with ink. Unlike some older Epsons, it also has not had clogging problems, at least so far. That said, I'm not hugely impressed with its image quality. The colors seem difficult to manage. I am not well equipped to calibrate, so it's quite possible this could be done better, but at least right out of the box, it lacks some indefinable quality, seeming more like old Kodacolor prints. My previous HP made really pretty images, but used expensive cartridges, and developed the nasty habit of rejecting new cartridges and refusing to print (as well as the usual annoying inkjet habit of not printing unless all the cartridges are registering, so even if all you need is a black and white airline ticket, sorry, you can't do it because someone walked too hard across the floor and disabled the cyan).
Anyway, I would recommend if you can that you go to someplace that sells printers, like Staples, with a JPG image or two on a card, and see if you can print out samples on different models, to see how they compare. Depending on what you're used to and how you've processed the images, you might like one more than another. Whatever you get, if possible I highly recommend the kind that uses bottled ink, as it's likely to be cheaper even if you have to throw the printer out after a couple of years.
