Last weekend I was in Carinthia/Austria for biking, realxing and birding. In the morning on the river Drau, I made this photo from a swan swimming peaceful in the middle of the river.

Can you imagine something more smooth than the fur of a koala bear? You immediately want to stroke this animal.

Had to hunt a bit for this one; smooth isn't common in the natural world. But calm water (Fern Lake, Bemidji, MN) and fruit skins (highbush cranberry) work.
This photo was taken in Egilstadir during an Iceland trip in 2008. The fog just raised and the sea was completely smooth.
