A somewhat more artistic scenic view of the church of Vijlen, one of the best known towns in "Het Limburgse Heuvelland" (Limburg's land of the hills) in The (South of the) Netherlands. The foreground wasn't particularly interesting, so I decided to darken the foreground so that it became fully black. That opened up the possibility to make a silhouette out of the the houses, trees and church in the background!
The shadows are so strong we can not be sure where or what this place is. Who are the souls in the windows and what are they doing here? The truth may be far more mundane than the imagination fears
