Hi everyone,
I own several Dell UltraSharp U2413f and would like to perform a hardware calibration (using the monitor’s CAL1/CAL2 slots). For that, DELL recommends in rather old articles from 10 years back the X-Rite i1Display Pro.
I know the officially listed DUCCS version that supports the U2413f and X-Rite i1Display pro is v1.5.3, but I also read in articles on photographylife-dot-com (cant share a link as new user) that newer DUCCS releases (like v1.6.5) will work with this monitors too, even though it’s not explicitly stated.
Because the secondhand market for the original X-Rite i1Display Pro is both limited and almost as expensive as a brand-new Calibrite colorimeter, I’m wondering if anyone has tried using newer Calibrite Colorimeters in conjunction with the older Dell DUCCS Software and successfully hardware calibrated the Monitors CAL1/CAL2 slots?
Another question would be if anyone used newer Dell DUCCS or even X-Rite i1Profiler (or even newer Calibrite software) together with the newer Calibrite colorimeters on these older Dell UltraSharp Monitors? If so, did DUCCS (or i1Profiler) actually recognize the device and allow a proper hardware calibration?
Another question I have is my OS Situation:
I’m on Linux and trying to figure out if it’s possible to run DUCCS through WINE without issues or if I must resort to a native Windows environment.
If you’ve got any firsthand experience or insights (especially about compatibility of colorimeters and the best way to use hardware calibration of the Monitors on Linux), please share!
Your expertise will help me (and hopefully others) decide whether to invest in a used X-Rite device or go for a newer Calibrite colorimeter.
Thanks in advance for your help!
