I go against the grain, but mine is the M8. I have an affinity for the underdog and unique things in life. The M8 is unique with its Kodak CCD APS H sensor, 1/8000th top shutter speed, and small top mounted LCD. I've owned almost every single Leica M digital made as well, with the exception of the very expensive special edition models.
The M8 stands out to me as the most personal and enjoyable to use of all of them. It adheres to the use of the rangefinder instead of allowing for live view and other conveniences, and forces me to shoot in a way that is completely unique to other cameras.
The M Typ 262 is also this way, but the CMOS sensor lacks a unique fingerprint that the M8 has. The M9 variants are similar to the M8, but they lack the top 1/8000th shutter speed and top mounted lcd window.
For these reasons and more, the M8 is my favorite Leica M, but what is yours and why?

I am not a Leica shooter, but I know a number of folks who love their Leica gear. For many years, I dreamt of getting an M8 with the Noctilux, but that never materialized for financial and other reasons. Maybe one day!
It is never too late. I will say this though, prices on the M8's and the Epson RD1's are only going up- the window into affordable entry into digital rangefinders is closing very quickly. Grab one up while you can.

The M240 M-P is fantastic. It's bigger for an M but still a smaller camera. It's my second favorite next to the M8 or Typ 262.
M7's are delightful film cameras.
