My exposure to the clientele at DPReview was the flame wars and fanboyism in the article comments. While amusing to read at work, it never gave me any desire to sign up for the forums themselves. (And as far as answers to tech questions, most of the time I googled a question and a hit came up from their forums, it was someone asking the same question as me... and there were no responses).
On the other hand, the comments and responses here have seemed to be on a different, more respectful level - more mature. (Which is funny, coming from a guy who's 63, going on 14...)
So I signed up and you're stuck with me.
@fabrice, it is actually quite simple. Go to your profile and upload an avatar. Just make sure it is small in size - you can't upload a large image.

We always try to keep PL clean from flame wars, fanboyism and even fights between our readers, which takes a lot of work. But we believe it is all worth it at the end.
If you see any abusive behavior from anyone, please feel free to reach out, and we will deal with that accordingly.
Still can't tell what's going on over at DPR but this looks like a good place in any case.

I've been making it a point lately of sending some $ to the sites I frequent most with the demise, and imminent demise of IR and DPR.

@doobs We really appreciate you asking! There's no contribution system on Photography Life right now, but if you buy any of your camera equipment through our links to B&H or other sites, we get a small % of the purchase price, usually about 3%. Other than that, we're just glad to have you on the site! Our finances are secure right now and we're in no danger of following IR and DPR's footprints.
Ok. To be honest I'm definitely not in the camera acquisition mode.
If that changes, I'll jump all over the links.

Hi, i´m new here and i hope this is the right place for an introduction
My name is Werner, a german guy, chose "gerimago" as username.
I´m 59, my interest in photography started a the age of 14.
Currently i´m living my dream (from youth) with nature, and especially bird photography using a Fuji System, since the digital age originally starting from Pentax.
I hope i can contribute a bit to this site... let´s see.
