Is this forum new? Am I really the first one to post in this virgin space? Wow! Anyway, I like Photography Life, and if it has a forum, the better. Good luck!
Rene, welcome to our fresh new forum! We are still working through some bugs here and there, but it is almost ready.
Hello Nasim,
Thank you for building this new forum. I will test it !
Regards,
Chris
Test test ;) Looks like I made it though captain! Can't believe that DPR locked your thread, ridiculous! Here we are at the end of that site and they can't let it go for once?

Yes, that's very unfortunate. Oh well, I think they are just trying to make do with what is left. I honestly don't think any effort at this point is going to bring people from DPR here - I think most have already moved on to different platforms, and some just decided to quit forums altogether. Even DPRevived.com got a small fraction of the whole community. Unfortunate, but exactly what I and many others foresaw would happen...
@megaz: The true test is if DPrevived lets me post a link to this forum. They might be just DPReview revived.
To be frank, I'd prefer many of the DPR forum (barfly's) not come over. At least the ones that blasted people with negativity. There are some good people over there for sure, and I think they will naturally gravitate to mature and polite environments such as it is here. I'll be here posting and helping and teaching as much as I can.

LOL, that would be pretty comical if they didn't. Interesting how people can get so defensive over something so silly. Oh well.
It's sad to see the demise of dpreivew, I only occasionally browsed there but it's always sad to see such a resource go away.
It's nice to see a forum here, hopefully the community here continues to grow.
Welcome Dan! Glad to have you here. The community can only grow one way, and that is exactly what you did- become a new member. I believe it will grow here and attract a really good crowd. Nasim and Spencer (and the rest here) set the right tone for exactly that.
Agreed on DPR, to be wiped from the internet is like burning a library- it's horrendous and a learning lesson about big corp.
What I won't miss, if I may... are the overtly controlling and favoritism style moderators over there, the usual suspects that harass others (allowed by the Moderators), along with the constant Sony shilling-style reviews. DPR isn't what it used to be, let's face it, and it could have been turned around, but it wasn't. It's tragic what is happening to the site, but there are silver linings as a result.
Again welcome aboard.

I've been around a long time, but have re-registered, and glad to see the forum re-vivified. I never registered on DPR but used occasionally to refer to threads there when I had questions, so I hope some of the well informed folks from there end up here.
@formerly-bruto I remember you from the previous PL forum and am glad to welcome you to this one! Nasim designed this forum with growth in mind, and maybe some people who are adrift from DPR will settle here, too.

DPReview published an update now saying at least some/all of the content will remain as an archive. Of course, their forums will no longer function but I' glad you've joined here and it will be great to have a new community!
