Writing from inside a rabbit hole. I decided to try my hand at creating a photo slideshow/video with music for the very first time. After several false starts, I have a layout but now I’m at a roadblock on the song I’d like to use. We copied all our CD’s to the hard drive in the m4a format. How do you convert m4a to mp3? Really hoping for an easy solution. Suggestions will be appreciated!
The way you can do so depends upon what are your available devices and systems ? Macs, PCs, Phones ?
As an information, m4a format is in fact aac format, which is an Apple standard (if you need to find a corresponding information in softwares).
If you're on Macs, I guess all answers can be found here :
On Windows PCs, I guess something like Winamp can do it.
Though, as a general observation, if you still have access to your CDs, I recommend to convert directly from the one you need into mp3 files. That way, the result will probably sound better than with a double conversion from CD to aac, then to mp3.
I use Windows 10 which has "Windows Accessories" .Here, there is "Windows Media Player" which allows direct transfer to mp3 from CD.
Success!
Thank you both! A friend referred me to Aiseesoft, software he uses.

I clearly don't recommend this kind of software. You have embedded solutions in your OS's that are way more secure and simple.
I understand and appreciate the cautionary note. Jon is a trusted source and, as I discovered, very familiar with this sort of thing.
@kwongphotographyhotmail-com thank you for the information and screen shots!
No harm meant, but this software is clearly not recommendable (I'm talking about Aiseesoft).
First, it is told it's a video converter not an audio converter, which is what you told you were looking for.
Second, there is no way audio conversion that uses libraries and softwares that has been around here for decades needs anything AI. Also, their website is clearly a clickbait page and their argumentation an AI emptiness.
You should be careful, internet is now full of those AI scams.
And I'm sorry, because of course you don't know me (as I don't know Jon :D), but I'm not just a trusted source : computers are my work as a pro since 35 years :D.
But of course, that doesn't prevent me to make mistakes... as anyone.
Anyway, if you're on Mac (which I can only guess, because you didn't tell us), the best answer may be the one by kwongphotography .
@prg-lagarde no offense taken and, hopefully, none given. Happy thanksgiving!
