It's been down for 3 weeks now, no notice. IR and DPR were the two biggest sites for me for a long time, same for many I presume. Can't believe they just shut it down with no notice. Odd timing though as Dave Etchells there recently stated they were still up and going strong when DPR gave "notice". Appears DPR may be saved too afterall. I've been talking with Richard there on the side a bit.
Either way this is all crazy.

I thought IR was to be closed/ended some months ago. I was glad it was still accessible but it seems you're right now : it's not anymore. And the last FB page's post is from March 23.
I talked to Dave before IR's last transition, offering my help in providing support for hosting, or anything else I can when he announced the plans to shut down the site. My understanding was that the media company that bought IR would continue the work and pay its writers to publish more content. It turns out that this media company was bought by another one later. I am not sure what happened after.
It seems like all work stopped at the end of March, then the site was shut down without warning, which is why none of the content is currently accessible. Very sad!
Let's hope the same thing does not happen to DPR. I know the site is "being archived", but none of us know what it really means. I think we will see DPR exist for a few years in read-only mode, then eventually, someone is going to notice that the site takes up a boatload of space and computing resources, and they will likely just shut it down in the same fashion as IR.
It really sucks this this is happening. Time to go back to books Nasim :)

@3percent, with AI taking over now, we will soon be going back to using bows and arrows. That's is if anyone of us gets to survive 🤣
As long as AI can earn me a paycheck... Maybe it can work 3 jobs at once for me, 3x8hr shifts :) lol

This is even more aggreging than the ongoing demise of DPReview.
Remind me to boycott anything whatsoever to do with BeBop Channel.
Just the name is ludicrous.
Vermin....
Sad that all the photography publications and media is disappearing. Things are changing rapidly in this world and not for the best.
You said it Bigmo. No doubt.
