When using the ES-2 Digitizer, will I get better/sharper results if I place the film backwards (emulsion facing the camera?) In that way I will not be shooting through the base material of the film.

Yes! Emulsion should always face the camera. It means one more step in post-processing when you need to flip the image, but you'll get sharper images and slightly better color and contrast that way.

Thanks. That makes total sense.

Hi, this unit is a great and easy way to scan images.   Point it at a light source and it's done.  The downside is the need to cut the film into strips of 6.  The Negative Supply unit with roller mechanism is good but then there is the issue of using a copy stand.  Negative Supply's original stands (I own one) have a terrible method of connecting the camera to the stand.   They have just come out with a new version with an allen wrench for this purpose.  I ended up purchasing a nice custom made one on Ebay for a third of the cost of the NS unit, and it is much better.  Very nice image!
