This lens reminds me a lot of the 45m f/2.8 AF-P from the F mount. Basically it's a 100% functioning body cap but with professional build. Canon's 40mm f/2.8 (I referred to it as the hockey puck) was supremely popular for Canon on the EF mount, and I'm willing to be this lens is basically an attempt of the same- to sell high volume as a popular, portable, compact prime.

Thanks @3percent! I've wanted to see more pancake lenses since Nikon and Canon started their mirrorless systems. It just makes sense that lightweight cameras should have some lightweight lenses. For Nikon Z, I think there's still room for a few more in the lineup.
Agreed. A trio would be nice :) Different focal lengths.
