Okay, who is interested in the 600PF? With prices much higher than the 500PF, is the 100mm extra and Z mount worth it? Personally, I am getting very interested in this lens...
Price is quite higher indeed though still in the "lower" range for telephoto. I think 400 F/4.5 + TC 1.4 may be a better bargain, considering it could probably have at least similar to better contrasts and colors, especially with contras and perhaps better front bokeh. Though, most probably, the 600mm will be sharper (like 500 PF is). I'm looking forward to seeing PL's review for this lens anyway :D !
At least, the size and weight are in my "scope" (not the case of the 800mm for instance).
I want it for the smaller size, but I can't justify it yet since I haven't even properly used the 180-600mm yet.
Maybe in a year or two. Which should be about right for it to get in stock from the mass of preorders ;)
I preordered it the minute it was available and I don't regret it, although the price hurt a bit (and was higher than I expected). It replaced my 500mm f/5.6 PF.
One of the main motivations for me was the use of TCs. First, I had to keep two sets of TCs for the 500 PF and the Z lenses, and second, while the use of the FTZ alone never bothered me, it was a bit annoying in combination with TCs.
Also, 100mm more focal length at the roughly same size/weight (if you factor in the FTZ) is quite nice. :)
One thing that I'm disappointed about is the lack of a proper lens pouch, something like what came with the 500 PF. At that price point, I definitely would have expected more than a cheap cloth.
Currently, I already own Nikon 300 PF, 500 PF, and 800 PF.
So from price to performance ratio standpoint it does not make sense for me to get this lens new. Eventually In distance future I might get a used copy.
No problem with Flair on any of them.
