Hi
I am a new member and first time poster.
We are going to Corfu in early October and staying in the Old Town area.
I would be interested in any hints or tips about photography in Corfu and especially any etiquette or laws on street photography.
Thanks
Tony H
Hey Tony,
Sounds like a great trip! You will have an awesome time.
Rules around street photography is a really complex topic, and there are many threads on the internet about how these apply in the EU and specifically in Greece. In general, I would say that if you are taking pictures in public places where people happen to be in the photos, and those photos are for your personal use, then you likely won't have any issues. If you are taking portraits without consent, or planning to use the photos for any type of published purpose, then you will want to be much more careful and research closely. And as always, be extra careful when it comes to minors and people in compromising situations.
Hi,
Corfu is a very touristic place. So million of pictures are taken there every year with mobile phones. So taking photos there is very normal. And if you follow the general rules for street photography, that would be no problem at all.
And don't stay only in Corfu town. Go for example to Paleokastritsa and have a boat tour around the rocky coast with deep blue water.
And if you are a plane spotter, Corfu town is the Eldorado. The runway leads from the coast directly into the old town. You can take spectacular pictures of landing planes there.
