Canon shooters, is there a lens you wish Canon made? Going in reverse, as a Nikon shooter, I like the idea of the Canon 100-500 because of it's compactness and versatility. What about you?
Do you mean cheaper 100-500 or what do you mean ? Because there is a 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM.
I would love to see something like EF 18-135 IS USM but from L-lenses e.g.
RF 18-135 f/2.8 L USM
new lens RF macro MP-E 65mm or 100mm
- 500mm DO (as 500 PF) => any decent telephoto lens with more "human" prices, sizes and weights, in fact... and don't tell me about 800 or 600mm F/11 that are just toys ;). They need to do something more balanced between high-end and "cheapo". The RF 100-500 is the good concept at the right place, for instance (something indeed Nikon may have done).
- RF 24-120 same level as Z 24-120 ( is it only possible :D ? ). Their 24-105 is the same as the first EF of 2005, more or less. Not bad, but clearly, they should do better.
- RF 40mm F/2 ( their 35mm F/1.8 is a decent lens and not far being as "cool" though, but it's not 40mm :D )
- Decent fix 24mm (same level as RF 35mm 1.8 should be a minimum... the RF 24mm 1.8 is not)... even if only f/2.8.
- RF 50mm 1.4 (and get back to building other 1.4 lenses BTW) => I'd like that from Nikon too !
On the other hand I wish Nikon would have made some 70-200mm much more compact and light ... as the RF ones ;).
@prg-lagarde What about RF 40mm f/1.4 like Sigma they have really good one and sharp 40mm.
@mirnavi 40mm is meant to be small to my sense and for my usage. The Sigma is way too bulky for just a fixed 40mm.
If I'm to carry that kind of size, I'd rather carry a zoom like Z 24-120 which would be much more versatile (and nealry half the weight BTW).
So, absolutely not what I'm looking for, for that reason - and some others.
Though, made me think I really like the 56mm 1.4 from Sigma, so it would probably be cool to have it for APS-C RF indeed.
I just wish the $1000 lens was exactly as good as the $12000 lens. Of course it would be a bad business practice for Canon. I'd even be happy with an f8 lens that was the same in every other respect as a f4 or 2.8 lens. That said, there are some real winners among the EF lenses for those on a budget willing to compromise on size and weight. The original EF 100-400 dust pump for example. Or the 400 f 5.6. Super sharp just no IS and a monster to carry.
RF 100-600 similar specs similar to RF 100-500. Alternatively, RF 1x, 1.4x, 2x extender that works with RF 100-500 would be ideal.
