Hello There - has anyone used the 200-800mm for motorsports? I am certainly going to use this lens for wildlife, but am wondering how it might also work at the track. If you have experience in that regard, please share how it worked for you and the body / settings you used.
I will pair the lens with a body that has a high performing sensor. R3, R6, or R8. Not sure yet.
Thank you in advance for any info you can share.
I haven't used it but it looks very good. If you put it on an R3 I think it would be more than adequate....
Frankly, I will spend a bit more and take the 100-500 for long-end shots. Much better lens to my sense, and more accurate for motorsports as you don't really need the extra mms from 500 to 800 (I'd say even 500 may be too much).
It's also a lighter lens (you'll get to know it's important when walking along racetracks a whole day), more versatile, and has more stabilization options, and that can be very useful for panning.
You'll find many nowadays motorsports photographers (and some old ones) that prefer lenses that goes from 70 to 400mm (and even simply 70-200s) and a wide one for specific usages.

After all, you're not shooting little birds ;) ..
Hope it helps
