Which camera is great value for money, canon R8 or  Sony a 7iii.

In year 2024 there is Canon sale LIVE in which R8 is available for 1 lakh rupees and  a7iii is for 1,24,000/- rupees.

Which do you think would be best buy?

I am a regular hobbiest and looking to capture some special moments of my life.

I am planning for 2 lens , 35mm 1.8 for videos and general use and 80 mm f1.8 for portrait.

Amy experts there can suggest me which is great value for money camera and why ?

Thank you for reading.

Regards

Ys

Hi @abhiram, welcome to our forum! Both cameras are very good and you really can't go wrong. If you haven't already seen the list of their different features, here's our comparison page on the two cameras: https://photographylife.com/comparison/sony-a7-iii-vs-canon-eos-r8

In short, the biggest benefit of the A7 III is its in-body image stabilization system (great for any handheld photography). The biggest benefit of the EOS R8 is the video features, which are more advanced (especially the higher bit depth and slow-motion capabilities). I also like that the A7 III has dual memory card slots - good for making a live backup - and I like that the EOS R8 has a fully articulating rear LCD - good for video and vertical photos.

The two cameras are on a pretty similar level overall. Both are highly capable. If any of those features stands out to you, that should make your decision easy. If not, I would simply get the one that is less expensive, which in this case is the EOS R8.
