Best of 4th of July Savings

We would like to congratulate our readers from the USA with the Independence Day! Fourth of July is a big day not just because you get to see beautiful fireworks (see my article on photographing fireworks) and enjoy a day off celebrating and remembering the sacrifices of the founders of this great country, but also because you get a great opportunity to save. Below are some of the best deals that we found for you.

4th of July Savings

Let’s kick off with the best deal of the day – the Canon EOS Rebel T3 with 18-55mm IS II lens is $299 ($150 off). That’s a pretty solid DSLR with a lens for $300!

And even better, if you want one with two lenses, check out the Canon EOS Rebel T3 with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses for $349 ($300 off). The amazing duo of Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens have a $300 mail-in rebate that is expiring tomorrow and if you want something wider, the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM has a $200 rebate.

If you shoot Nikon, the Nikon D7100 with the 18-140mm VR DX lens is $300 off at $1,396.95. And if you want something cheaper, the Nikon D5300 with the same 18-140mm lens is $250 off at $1,046.95.

For storing those huge Nikon D800/D810 files, the HGST 4 TB Deskstar 3.5″ Hard drive is only $175. I would run two of these in RAID 1 setup (mirroring) for redundancy to keep the photo library. If you do not know how to install internal drives, the external WD 3 TB Elements drive is on sale for $93. Those that travel a lot might consider the compact WD 2 TB Portable hard drive for $99 (I have one of these and it is great for travel backup purposes!). If you don’t need a lot of storage, a 500 GB version is half that price.

If you are not yet an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber and want something cheaper than a full version of Photoshop, the Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac and PC is on sale for $59.99. Phase One’s Capture One Pro 7 is also on sale with $150 off instant savings, going for $149 (digital download only).

For a complete list of savings from B&H, see the “Spectacular Deals” banner on the top of the page.

Pusher Labs is running a special as well, with a huge 50% OFF discount on the PFixer ($49 instead of $99) and FREE PFixer with a Panel purchase.

Bay Photo Lab

Bay Photo has 20% off ThinWraps if you use a promo code “20THIN” (expires on July 17th). BayBooks are also 20% off with promo code “20BOOK” (expires on July 8th).

Let’s not lose sight of the reason for the holiday. It’s not just to watch fireworks, have a day off, or get hyped by great sales. It’s a day to give thanks for our Country’s founders as well as all those who sacrificed to allow America the opportunity to achieve what few other nations have done: Provide a safe haven for millions of oppressed people!

Steve, you are absolutely right! My original article from last night had a good first paragraph, but I lost most of it. Only after publishing the article, I realized that half of it went missing, sounding bad. Thanks for letting me know, I changed the sentence so that it does not sound like it is only about fireworks and sales.
