Nikon Z8 Sample Images & RAWs

We have two copies of the Nikon Z8 in-hand at Photography Life, and Libor has already taken his copy for a spin. Today we wanted to share with you some of the sample images he's taken, including full-resolution original raw files available for download - a first for Photography Life!...

Canon EOS R100 Announced: Basic Features, Great Price

The newest addition to Canon’s RF mount is the EOS R100, an entry-level APS-C mirrorless camera with a starting price of $479. Unsurprisingly, the EOS R100’s features are quite basic, and its tech feels a couple of generations old. But that’s by design – Canon’s goal here was price, not features.

Nikon Z 1.4x and 2.0x Teleconverters Review

Today, I’ll be reviewing Nikon’s first teleconverters for the Z mirrorless system: the TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x. These two teleconverters multiply your focal length by 1.4× and 2.0× respectively, with the usual loss of light. How do the Nikon Z TCs hold up in practice? I’ll answer in this review.

Nikon Z8 Announcement: A Mini Z9 for $4000

Nikon just announced their long-awaited Z8 mirrorless camera, which aims to essentially mirror the flagship Z9 in a substantially smaller and less expensive body, just $4000. With the Z8, more than just a few features are trickling down – it has essentially the same specs as (arguably) the best mirrorless camera ever, yet costs $1500 less.

Nikon Z8 Official Sample Photos

Alongside the announcement of the Nikon Z8, Nikon also released 22 sample photos, most of which have full EXIF data. I’m publishing all of them below, alongside some crops to show performance at various ISO values (although there aren’t any surprises given that the camera shares the sensor of the Z9).

We’ve gotten our hands on some hands-on photos of the Nikon Z8 being used in the field. This should give you a sense of the camera’s size, shape, weatherproofing, and illuminated buttons. In practice, it’s about the size of the D850 (a bit smaller).

Taking Better Pictures Isn’t Always About Photography

Three years ago, near the start of the pandemic, my photography ground to a halt. There’s still a gap in my Lightroom catalog where May and June 2020 should be. I’m glad that my break was temporary, but it crystalized to me that there’s more to being a good photographer than just pressing the shutter button at the right time.

Nikon Z DX 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR Announcement

Nikon just announced their newest Z-series lens – and their first ultra-wide entry in the Z DX lineup. It’s the Nikon Z 12-28mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ VR, a lens that was first added to the roadmap in September of 2022. Here’s what we know about the lens so far.
