Additional 4% Off at B&H and Crazy Fuji and Olympus Rebates

As you may already know, B&H currently has some amazing incentives to buy cameras and lenses (see below on additional 4% discount). First, there is a heavy discounted program from Nikon called “the more you buy the more you save” (see the link for details of the program), where you can potentially save thousands of dollars on lenses if you buy a camera body. Canon has had discounts on its camera bodies for a while now.

Nikon Incentives

Fuji Rebates

Fuji also recently joined the rebate program and this one is perhaps the most aggressive with them all. It is hard to say what is making Fuji push these incentives, perhaps they want to capture more of the mirrorless market share and expand their reach beyond professionals and enthusiasts. Or perhaps the company is threatened by the new Zeiss Touit lenses, so they want to sell those Fuji lenses as fast as they can now. Either way, if you purchase the already discounted Fuji X-Pro1 (dropped to $1199 from $1699) or X-E1 (dropped to $799 from $999), you can buy any of the Fuji lenses with discounts from $200 and $300 on each lens. So if you buy the four lenses currently made by Fuji, you can save a total of $1000 on lenses alone:

Killer Camera and Lens Rebates from Nikon

Looks like Nikon is already pushing some killer rebates on its cameras and lenses. The new rebate program that B&H calls “The More You Buy The More You Save” is a camera + lens rebate program, which allows you to buy one camera and as many lenses as you want, stacking up savings with more lenses. While this means that you have to purchase at least one camera to qualify for additional lens rebates, some lens rebates are significant and were not part of any rebates in the past (like the new Nikon 70-200mm f/4G VR lens that I reviewed earlier this year). So this will be a great program for those that want to buy a new DSLR or want a backup camera. Most Nikon DSLRs take part in this program, including the D7100, D800 and D4. Existing savings on the D7100 and D800 cameras are retained, so these discounts apply on top of those.

Nikon More Buy More Save Rebate

Here is a list of all cameras and lenses offered in the rebate, along with the savings:

  1. Nikon D3100 ($100 off)
  2. Nikon D3200 ($100 off)
  3. Nikon D5100 ($100 off)
  4. Nikon D5200
  5. Nikon D7000 ($100 off)
  6. Nikon D7100 ($100 off kit)
  7. Nikon D600 ($100 off)
  8. Nikon D800 ($200 off)
  9. Nikon D4

Nikon “Buy together and Save” instant rebates end tomorrow

Happy Friday! Just wanted to give a quick reminder to our readers about the Nikon “buy together and save” instant rebates that are expiring tomorrow (04/27/2013). While these deals are not as good as the previous instant rebates on Nikon lenses, you can still save up to $550 when buying a DSLR with a lens and/or a speedlight. The newly released Nikon D7100 (see our Nikon D7100 coverage), which has already been discounted by $100 for the 18-105mm kit, is also included in this program. From what I am getting told, these rebates will not be extended further, probably not till the end of the year.

Nikon Lens Instant Rebates Reminder

A while ago, Nikon extended their instant rebates program which allows you to save up to $350 on new Nikkor lenses. This program expires on March 30th, so if you haven’t yet made up your mind whether to use it or not to purchase new lenses, you don’t have all that much time left. As of now, we are being told that these rebates will NOT be extended, since Nikon’s financial year is about to end. If you’re planning on purchasing a new lens but are unsure of which to get, we have plenty of thorough lens reviews that may help you out.

Nikon Lens Rebate Program

Quality Nikon lenses are, frankly, rather expensive, so don’t miss out on these great rebates!

Nikon D7100 Shipping Today + Instant Rebate

For those who have pre-ordered the Nikon D7100, B&H is now shipping D7100 units from their store as of today. I am being told that orders are getting fulfilled and so far the stock looks good. Looks like Nikon did a much better job with availability with the D7100 compared to the D800. At the same time, Nikon has announced a $100 instant rebate on the Nikon D7100 + 18-105mm lens kit. This goes on top of the existing instant rebates on Nikon lenses that were extended till the end of March.

Nikon Lens Instant Rebates Extended

I have received a number of emails from our readers that were not able to purchase Nikon lenses on time, before the rebate program ended. Thankfully, looks like the rebate program deadline was too short, so Nikon decided to extend it further until March 30, 2013. Since March 31 is Nikon’s financial year end, the goal is obviously to continue to push lens sales as much as possible. I seriously doubt that this specific lens rebate program will be available later this year. Unless Nikon is in serious financial trouble, rebate programs will probably only include DSLR + lens discounts like we have seen in the past.

Once again, if you are wondering about which lenses I personally recommend, see my previous article on the rebate program.

Nikon Lens Savings – Up to $350 Off

Nikon has been promoting its lenses with rebate programs for a while now, but all of those rebates required purchasing a DSLR to qualify. Since many of us already own DSLR cameras, those incentives were not very useful, as we could not take advantage of those offers (myself included). Starting from midnight tonight, February 17, Nikon is launching a lens rebate program that does not require purchasing of a camera body. This lens rebate is one of the largest I have seen, with savings up to $350 on select Nikkor lenses. Participating lenses include everything from the budget 50mm f/1.8G lens to professional glass like 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II. The rebate program ends on March 2, 2013.

The End of the Year Deals are Not Over

Looks like the holiday deals are not over. This time, it is the Nikon D7000 that goes on sale, with more goodies from B&H to sweeten the deal. While I do not consider this as good of a deal as the Nikon D600, it is still a pretty good sale for those that do not want to part with their DX lenses and stick with the APS-C sensor. This sale is a good indication that the D7000 will be replaced pretty soon, probably in Q1 of 2013. If you would like to check out my thoughts on the D7000, see my Nikon D7000 review that I published a while ago.

Nikon D7000

So here are the details for the Nikon D7000 discount:

  1. Nikon D7000 SLR Digital Camera $1,196.95
  2. Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens $846.95
  3. Nikon Normal AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D Lens $124.95
  4. Vello BG-N4 Battery Grip for Nikon D7000 $69.95
  5. Sandisk 16GB SDHC Extreme Class 10 $24.06

The price is discounted by $765.91, so you get the whole deal for a total price of $1,496.95

On top of that, B&H will overnight this camera to you, so that you get it before Christmas.

Nikon D800/D800E/D600 Instant Rebates Extended

I was first told that the D800/D800E/D600 instant rebates from last week would only last a couple of days. It turned out that the deals got pretty popular, because B&H ran out of the D600 stock pretty quickly. They were able to get a brand new shipment of the D800, D800E and D600 cameras quickly today, so I was told that the rebate program will continue, probably till the end of the year (December 29th, 2012 is the last date) or until the stock is completely depleted and Nikon cannot supply cameras fast enough.

Nikon D600 vs D800

Anyway, here are the Nikon deals once again:

  1. Nikon D800 – $200 off instantly (body only) – $2796.95 ($2,999 reg). Click on the “Savings Available” link and add Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G for another $200 off, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II for another $200 off, Nikon 70-300mm VR for yet another $200 off and Nikon 28-300mm VR for another $150 off – a total of $950 in instant savings! The Nikon D800 also comes with the following: Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Camera Shoulder Bag, Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon w/10-Pin Connection, SanDisk 32GB CompactFlash Memory Card Extreme 400x UDMA and Pearstone EN-EL15 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.0V 1800mAh) ($214 value) – Up to $1,164 in total savings
  2. Nikon D800E – $200 off instantly (body only) – $3096.95 ($3,299 reg). Same deal with lenses – pick any of the above-mentioned lenses and you can shave up to $750 off in instant savings in lenses alone. Unfortunately, no other incentives except for the 2% cach back are included.
  3. Nikon D600 + Nikon 24-85mm VR – $700 off instantly – $1,996.95 ($2,699 reg). Same deal with lenses – pick any of the above-mentioned lenses and you can shave up to $750 off in instant savings in lenses alone. To sweeten up the deal, B&H is also adding the following: Lowepro Rezo 170 AW Camera Shoulder Bag, SanDisk 32GB SDHC Memory Card Extreme Class 10 UHS-I, Pearstone EN-EL15 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.0V 1800mAh) and Oben ACM-2400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod
($174 value) – Up to $1,625 in total savings

Please note that there are additional savings to the above – the Nikon D800/D800E qualify for 2% additional cash back, while the D600 has a 4% cash back program through B&H!

Nikon D800 vs D800E

I got a number of emails from our readers, asking if they should go with the D800 or the D800E for their photography. As I have pointed out a number of times in articles like Nikon D800 vs D800E before, the D800E is a specialized tool that should be used for landscape, nature and macro photography, where fine, repetitive patterns are rarely present. If you like doing portrait photography and occasionally shoot landscapes, then get the D800. The difference between the D800 and D800E is very minor that you normally won’t be able to see. So for 98% of photographers out there, the D800 is the camera to get. Plus, the deals above for the D800E do not include all the goodies from B&H – just the bare $200 off, plus lens rebates…

For dedicated landscape gurus, the D800E is going to give the best possible image quality from the 36 MP sensor.

Nikon D800/D800E – $200 Off, Nikon D600 Kit – $700 Off

If you thought that Black Friday was a good day to buy cameras and lenses, think again – as of midnight tonight, Nikon is giving an instant rebate of $200 on the superb Nikon D800 and D800E DSLRs (see my D800 review). And it does not stop there. You can save even more by buying Nikon lenses (up to $750!). The real icing on the cake, however, comes with the Nikon D600 + 24-85mm VR kit, which is getting a crazy $700 instant rebate! This means that the kit will have the same price as the body-only version of the D600 at $1,996. Dang it, should have waited with my D600 purchase!

Nikon D600 vs D800

If you are subscribed to us, you already know about the D800 deal, but the $700 instant rebate on the D600 is something I found out about today. Remember the initial D600 rumors, where people were speculating if the D600 would be priced at $1,500? Well, that’s exactly the price of the camera if you factor in the cost of the lens! Take that Canon and Sony, a full-frame DSLR for $1,500 – who would have thought this day would come? Just three months after the announcement! If you have not read my D600 Review along with the 24-85mm VR Review, check them out and you will see why I am excited about this.
