This page contains all hands-on, detailed Lens Reviews published by Photography Life. Most reviews are large, primarily due to comparisons against other lenses, and span across multiple pages for easier reading experience. While we spend a considerable amount of time testing lenses in a controlled lab environment, we realize that test charts only show one aspect of lens performance, which can sometimes be misleading due to many different factors. Therefore, our lens evaluations and conclusions are based on the overall experience from using lenses for personal and professional photography work first. The test charts and various crops are provided only to back up our findings and support our claims. Does this make my reviews subjective? Absolutely. In fact, every lens review you will find on the Internet is subjective to a certain extent. It is not uncommon to come across one review that completely contradicts another by a different reviewer. Lenses, just like any other product, are prone to manufacturing defects. In addition to sample variation and quality control issues, there are many other factors such as lighting conditions, focus issues, lens imperfections, subject distance, camera shake, etc, that could potentially influence the data. Therefore, we always recommend to read multiple reviews from different sources before making a major purchasing decision.
