    Hey Nasim,
I tried to click on the EXIF data file and it dont show any of those. You are lucky to have those shots where you are located. I live down the east of Georgia close by Savannah, Ga. There are alot of seagulls and gators. I’ve not gone over to take photographs of any kind of birds but one day when the timing is right. Been too busy with soldiers coming home from Iraq and some kind of change of command that including the soldiers transfer to another base and the new one come in. Plus my grandson has been so sick while I tend to take care of him. I will one day go when the weather start to warm up.
The place where you live is the lucky photograph you took. I just cant stand the cold weather and snow. YIKES!!!! :)

Diane, please check the EXIF data on the full versions of the files – it will not be available on the above resized versions. You can either download the images and use a viewer like Opanda/ACDSee or simply use a browser EXIF plugin on the image links.

By the way, 3 of the images above were taken in Florida :) You should definitely check out some birding spots around you!

    Hi Nasim,
I stumbled across your blog today and I have been captivated for the last 5 hours! The knowledge and information you share with your readers is so wonderful, and I’m thankful to be able to learn from you. I started this evening wanting to buy a D300s (and almost did), but I am now convinced I need an FX camera, and will likely go with the D700. I had no idea of the difference until I read some of your articles and viewed the picture differences-so, so helpful.
The camera I have now is the D40 and I am definitely ready for an upgrade due to the poor performance in low lighting. That’s my main reason for upgrading, and it sounds like full frame is the way to go. I have 2 kit AF-S lenses and the Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens, so my question to you is what other lens would you recommendn that’s not too terribly expensive? What did you use to shoot all of these nature shots in this post? My favorite subjects are nature and landscapes. Thanks so soo much and I will be using your links to buy any items from b&h or elsewhere and I have already subscribed to your blog and recommended it to friends!! Do you also get credit for purchases on ebay? That’s likely where i’ll get my camera body, and I’d love for you to get credit.
Lastly, I love how you interact consistently with your readers which allows us to ask questions, etc..so helpful!

Kara, thank you for your feedback!

The Nikon D700 is a great camera – most of the shots above and in my “best of 2010″ collections were captured with the D700. In terms of lenses, it depends on what you want to do. For wildlife, you will need the reach, so a 70-200mm f/2.8 with a teleconverter or a 300mm f/4.0 are very good choices that I personally use a lot. For landscapes, I really like the Nikon 24-70mm lens and if you are looking for something more affordable, the 16-35mm and the 24-120mm lenses are also very good (you can find the reviews for those here on my blog).

I would be very careful about buying a used D700 from ebay though…if you are looking for a new D700, buy from B&H or Adorama instead.

Thanks so much Nasim! Would you think buying a used/refurbished from adorama or B&H would be okay? Have you ever heard of anyone who has? If I can save a few hundred, I would do it. Thanks!

        • I bought a Nikon factory demo D700, MB-D10, 24-70mm f/2.8, SB-900, and a few other nice factory demo models from Cameta Camera on eBay. Some things they didn’t list on eBay but were able to get me when I called. I saved a little over $600 all told, which I put into accessories like the EN-EL4A battery for the grip, memory cards, RS-7 camera strap, etc. I’m very happy with my purchase. I suspect D700′s will be easy to get used once the next model is released this year, probably a D800.

I agree with Aaron – buying refurbished items is pretty safe, especially from reliable sellers like B&H, Adorama and Cameta.

          • Last week I picked up a factory demo Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II and very lightly used TC-20E III teleconverter on eBay for really great prices (about the same price combined as a new 70-200mm). They look and act brand new from the factory, so I fared well! The trick I’ve found is having patience and waiting for the right deal to come along, even if it takes a couple months, difficult to do with the typical American “instant” mentality. :-) Also, do plenty of research on and communicate with the seller and previous buyers if possible. The big names like B&H, Adorama, Cameta, etc. are very trustworthy of course.
